🚶‍♀️💙 We were proud to be part of the Breakthrough T1D Walk this past Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena!

It was amazing connecting with organization members, everyone who stopped by our booth, and most importantly, the incredible T1D community. Your stories, strength, and support for one another are truly inspiring.

Breakthrough T1D continues to play a critical role in advancing research, advocacy, and progress toward better treatments—and ultimately a cure. We’re honored to support that mission.

At our booth, we shared information about ongoing clinical research at our Institute, including a study evaluating a once-weekly, long-acting insulin for individuals with T1D.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with us!

If you or someone you know may be interested in participating in clinical research, we welcome you to connect with our team.

We look forward to continuing this work together and we’re already looking forward to next year! 🙌 ✨

Dr. Juan Pablo Frías, Medical Director and Principal Investigator at the Los Angeles Institute for Metabolic Research, presented 52-week data of icovamenib in people with type 2 diabetes at the 19th International Conference on Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) in Barcelona, Spain.

Dr. Frías was an invited speaker at the 1st ATTD Congress in Prague in 2008, where he presented on two therapies that were just emerging at the time—the first GLP-1 receptor agonist (exenatide twice daily) and the first amylin analog (pramlintide) for the treatment of diabetes.

From those early GLP-1 and amylin therapies to today’s next generation of metabolic treatments, the field has advanced tremendously.

Over the past two decades, investigators and staff now at the Los Angeles Institute for Metabolic Research have contributed to the clinical development of many important therapies for diabetes, obesity, and metabolic liver disease—and we remain committed to continuing to help advance the field.

The state-of-the-art FibroScan® system is now part of everyday care at the Los Angeles Institute for Metabolic Research — and it’s already playing an important role in our latest clinical research efforts.

This non-invasive technology is being used to support screening and enrollment for our MASLD clinical trial, helping assess liver health and identify eligible participants. It also remains a key tool across our metabolic liver disease research, from community screenings to active studies.

We’re proud to combine advanced technology with innovative research to improve liver health and expand treatment options for our community.

In case you missed it — Dr. Juan Pablo Frías recently spoke on “The Central Role of Weight Management in the Care of People with Type 2 Diabetes.”

In this webinar, he discusses how obesity drives type 2 diabetes and related complications, why early weight management should be a primary treatment goal, and how emerging GLP-1 and multi-agonist therapies are transforming care across glycemic control, cardiovascular risk, and metabolic liver disease.
