⚑ Pain that travels from the lower back into the buttock or leg? That pattern is often called sciatica.

Sciatica happens when the sciatic nerve is irritated or compressed, commonly from a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, or other lower spine condition. Symptoms can include sharp pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness along the nerve path.

Falls are not just a normal part of getting older.

A Cochrane review found that exercise programs for community-dwelling older adults, especially balance and functional exercise programs, often combined with resistance work, reduced the rate of falls, and may also reduce the number of people experiencing a fall-related fracture.

This is one reason prevention-focused movement matters so much: improving balance, strength, and control can lower risk before an injury happens.

Exercise should still be individualized. If you have balance concerns, prior falls, osteoporosis, or fracture risk, talk with your physician before starting a new program so the plan matches your needs.

If fall prevention is something you or a family member has been thinking about, this is worth saving.

Shoulder pain is not always the rotator cuff. Sometimes the issue is the labrum.

The labrum is the ring of cartilage that lines the shoulder socket and helps support stability. When symptomatic, a shoulder labral tear may cause deep shoulder pain, clicking, catching, a sense of instability, or pain with overhead and throwing movements.

Not every labral tear needs surgery, but understanding the anatomy can make the symptoms easier to recognize and describe.

Save this for the next time shoulder pain feels hard to explain.

The goal is not just a new hip, it’s a better foundation for movement.

This pre-op X-ray shows a severely damaged left hip. The normal connection between the ball, neck, and upper thigh bone is no longer intact, and the leg appears shortened through the hip area.

In a case like this, hip replacement is about more than replacing the joint. The surgeon has to carefully restore alignment, stability, and leg length to help support better movement and function.

Revision surgery begins with a different kind of challenge.

Before new fixation can be placed, the surgeon may first need to remove prior hardware, assess the bone, restore the surgical field, and create a stable path forward.

That step can be demanding, especially when the original surgery was performed elsewhere and the revision surgeon is working through altered anatomy, existing implants, scar tissue, and a case history they did not create.

This is where experience shows: in the planning, the exposure, the decision-making, and the ability to move from removal to reconstruction with precision.
