Growing up, I watched my mother single-handedly raise and educate nine children while caring for my father during his prolonged illness. Looking back, I still wonder how she did it.

Today, all nine of us are highly educated, with careers spanning medicine, nursing, engineering, construction, banking, Education, farming and many other professions.

Her secret wasn’t wealth or luck. It was hard work, sacrifice, unwavering persistence, and unconditional love.

She taught us that children are always watching. They learn more from what we do than from what we say.

That lesson inspires me every day.

To every woman reading this: whatever season of life you’re in, don’t stop growing, learning, and pursuing your purpose. Whether you work from home, outside the home, run a business, or care for your family full-time, give it your very best. Your children are watching, and the example you set today can shape their future.

Let’s choose diligence, resilience, and love. Those are legacies that last.

I always encourage women not to feel limited by a season of staying at home with their children. Raising kids is incredibly demanding, especially when trying to balance career goals and finances, but it is possible to create income opportunities from home.

I remember when I was taking care of my daughter and preparing for my board exams and we were even struggling financially. That was when I started an online business. With time, that business grew to the point where I was earning significantly more

I understand how challenging it can be, especially for immigrant women who put their careers on hold after moving to a new country. But your current situation does not have to define you. If you desire financial independence, there are many opportunities you can explore from home using skills, resources, and technology.

Being a stay-at-home mom is valuable work, but it does not mean you have to give up on your dreams or your ability to earn.

Don’t envy successful people. You don’t always see the sacrifices they made, the failures they endured, or the opportunities they chose to embrace while others ignored, rejected, or mocked them.

Many of the people we celebrate today simply stayed consistent with opportunities that others dismissed.

I understand this personally. Some people are laughing at my business today, just as many laughed at others before they succeeded. That’s okay. I don’t need everyone’s approval, I need persistence, discipline, and faith in the vision.

Remember: today’s ridicule can become tomorrow’s inspiration.

Don’t let other people’s opinions stop you from pursuing what you believe in. Stay focused, keep building, and trust the process. One day, your results will speak louder than the criticism ever did.

Not everyone who earns a good income experiences financial freedom. You can find people in every profession, doctors, nurses, engineers, business owners, and executives, who still live in constant financial struggle.

The difference is often more than income. It can be mindset, habits, financial discipline, and the beliefs we hold about money and our future.

Guard your mind. Refuse to embrace a mindset of scarcity, hopelessness, or perpetual lack. Instead, cultivate a spirit of growth, wisdom, gratitude, and stewardship. Learn continuously, save intentionally, invest wisely, and surround yourself with people who inspire you to think bigger and make better financial decisions.

Your environment matters. The conversations you listen to, the people you spend time with, and the attitudes you adopt can either pull you toward progress or keep you trapped in limitation.

Choose relationships that challenge you to grow, not ones that normalize defeat. Success has patterns. Financial wisdom has habits. And a positive, growth-oriented mindset is contagious too.

Don’t just work for a paycheck, build a life of purpose, financial freedom, and lasting impact.

For a long time, there has been an unspoken tradition that when physicians or other healthcare professionals talk openly about money, people assume they entered medicine purely for financial gain. I think that’s unfortunate because financial literacy and financial independence should not be taboo topics in our profession.

I was telling some of my colleagues that even as a resident physician, I made a conscious decision to pursue financial freedom. I believe that when you achieve financial freedom, time freedom naturally follows. As physicians, we already make enormous sacrifices for our patients and our profession. I don’t believe we should have to live in both financial poverty and time poverty at the same time.

Over the years, many people have found it hard to believe that a resident physician can also own a multi-franchise business. They often see medicine and entrepreneurship as incompatible paths. But I hope my journey serves as a wake-up call that the two are not mutually exclusive. Physicians can be deeply committed to patient care while also building businesses, creating wealth ethically, and designing lives with greater flexibility and impact.

Medicine is a calling, but it doesn’t require us to limit our financial aspirations. In fact, financial independence can empower physicians to practice medicine on their own terms, avoid burnout, and create an even greater impact both inside and outside the healthcare system.

Education is not the same as wealth.

One of the biggest myths today is believing that a degree automatically leads to financial freedom.

Education gives you knowledge, skills, and the ability to think critically. It empowers you, but it does not guarantee wealth, financial independence, or time freedom.

As a physician, I know firsthand that a high-income profession doesn’t automatically create wealth. You can be highly educated and still be financially or time poor if you never learn how to build assets, invest wisely, or create multiple streams of income.

Go to school. Get educated. But also learn financial literacy, wealth creation, and how to make your money work for you.

Education opens doors. Financial wisdom creates freedom.

Medicine is my calling. My business is my hobby.

Every day, I have the privilege of serving humanity through medicine, making a difference, one patient at a time. But beyond my career, I’ve discovered that my business fuels my creativity, sharpens my mindset, and reminds me that wealth is built through purpose, consistency, and vision.

For me, it’s not a choice between passion and profession. I get to live both.
