In so doing, SOS succeeds in improving healthcare for the poor and underserved around the world, including in our own region.

SOS improves healthcare access for those in need locally and around the world by collecting surplus medical supplies from healthcare systems and using the items to save lives rather than going into landfills. SOS is a Louisville, KY based humanitarian aid organization that promotes global health, environmental stewardship, and community awareness through the efficient recovery and responsible distribution of surplus medical supplies and equipment. SOS is one of only 7 accredited medical surplus recovery organizations in the U.S.

A huge thank you to LG&E and KU for showing up for SOS during their Day of Caring! 💚

The LG&E team including SOS friend and supporter Eiman Zuberi rolled up their sleeves to sort and pack thousands of medical syringes, helping prepare these essential supplies for shipment to healthcare providers around the world.

Two Dupont Manual High School students have turned art into impact! 🩹🌸

They craft and sell handmade flowers at local farmers markets, and with the money raised, they purchase medical supplies for SOS to give to communities in need. 🌎

So far, they've raised enough to send 10,000 gloves and over 200 bandages to a community in need! 🧤

WE BROKE A RECORD! 💚

This past Saturday, our free wheelchair clinic served 21 individuals in a single afternoon—a new record! Each person served represents improved mobility, independence and quality of life.

We’re so grateful to our volunteers and community partners, with a special thank-you to the Greater Louisville Medical Society for supporting our these clinics.

It's simply amazing to witness the immediate impact improved mobility has on someone. 🫶

A container of health and hope is on its way to Cuba. 💚

This week we sent over $333,000 worth of essential medical supplies and equipment, as well as more than 70,000 meals from Love the Hungry to help address critical food needs.

Conditions in Cuba are increasingly difficult, with prolonged power outages, food shortages and hospitals struggling to access essential supplies. This shipment will help support healthcare providers and communities facing urgent needs.

Thanks to our generous donors and partners, these resources are getting a second life.

🏥 A serious lung condition was keeping this baby in the hospital.

❤️‍🩹 She needed an oxygen concentrator and a few other medical supplies in order to sustain care in the comfort of her family's home.

✈️ We received a request for the supplies and sent them to Senegal as quickly as we could.

❤️ There's no better feeling than delivering hope, and your donated medical supplies make that possible.

Thanks to a connection from the wonderful Dr. Behrman with UofL’s Pediatric Neuro-Recovery Program at UofL Health - Frazier Rehabilitation Institute, we were able to provide a wheelchair for Jennifer N.’s son—giving him greater mobility, comfort and independence.

One wheelchair may seem like a simple piece of equipment, but for a family caring for a loved one with significant needs, it can make a life-changing difference.

We’re grateful to be part of a community where doctors, families, donors and SOS come together to turn needed medical equipment into real impact for real people. 💚
