Talk about it Tuesday!!🗣️🗣️

Let’s talk about phonological processes, specifically final consonant deletion. Phonological processes are normal and they are ways for young children to simplify adult speech to a level that they can successfully produce. Final consonant deletion is one of these processes where a kiddo just leaves off the final sound in a word. For example “ba” for “bat.” Phonological processes usually go away on their own as a child develops more complex articulation abilities.

Butttt, sometimes our kiddos hang onto them a little too long- no big deal!! That’s where we come in as speech therapists. Take a look at this kiddo ROCKING his final consonant production with Mrs. Katelyn! 🤘🏻🎸❤️

Talk about it Tuesday! 💙🎤

One of our kiddos was rocking their AAC device + ASL + spoken language to get their message across—and it was awesome to watch. He didn’t just communicate his wants, he also worked through little challenges during play and figured out what to do next like a pro. 🧠✨

We love seeing our kids use any and all ways to communicate and build those problem-solving skills at the same time. So proud of this progress! 💙

Play isn’t just fun- it’s a powerful learning tool!

Kids learn best when they are engaged and having FUN- through PLAY! Essential learning skills, articulation trials, social pragmatic skills, and SO much more can be targeted though play and allows our kiddos to learn in their natural environment.

Help us wish Chelsea a very happy birthday! 🫶🏻
Chelsea, you are such a blessing to FATLR. Watching you step into your new role this year has been incredible. You have truly blossomed and thrived in everything you’ve taken on. While we’ve missed seeing you in the office every day, the kids and therapists always look forward to the days you’re there leading and shining.
