October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to domestic violence and support those who may be experiencing abuse. Domestic violence can take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, psychological, and financial abuse. Sometimes, the signs may not be obvious from the outside. Learning about healthy relationships, recognizing concerning behaviors, and knowing how to respond with compassion can make a difference. If someone you know is experiencing abuse, remember that listening without judgment and helping them connect with support can be an important first step.
The more you know, the more you can recognize the signs, support others, and help create safer communities.
