As autism advocates, here are a few tips and thoughts to put in place for today:

Let’s make it safe space/comfort zone in the best way possible✨

📌Discuss the day in advance
•Show pictures of family members or things they may see (i.e. moon bounce, lake, pool)

📌Talk through schedule/plans in steps to prepare and even prevent or lessen behavior

📌Regarding fireworks, remind your child that breaks are okay! Acknowledge it can be overstimulating causing attempts to elope/run away
•Bring favorite snacks, fidgets, and headphones!

📌Offer choices throughout the day to elicit gestures like pointing or increasing verbal language (Help put plates out or decorate? Watch a fireworks clip on YouTube or draw a picture of fireworks?)
