We took a trip to the iconic Battle of Iwo Jima memorial and had the opportunity to meet up with our friends from Commonwealth Senior Living at Front Royal! 🤩💙

Together, we explored this powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our nation's servicemen and women.

One particularly touching moment came when one of our residents, Dotty, recognized the name of Peleliu among the islands commemorated at the memorial.

The discovery held special significance, as her husband was deployed and served on the island during World War II. It was a heartfelt reminder of the personal connections many of our residents have to the history that shaped our nation.

We are so grateful for opportunities like these that allow residents to reflect, share memories, and honor those who served. 🫡

Our residents kicked off the month of June by traveling the world—without leaving home! ✈️

This month's destination is Tanzania, Africa, where residents enjoyed a curated tasting of wines from Africa paired with a delicious charcuterie board.

With sunshine overhead and beautiful weather on the patio, everyone relaxed, socialized, and explored the flavors and culture of this incredible destination. 🥂

May has been full of stop at the Kentucky Derby thanks to our theme! 🐎🌎

We were thrilled to welcome mini therapy horses Lola and Mimi for a special visit of smiles, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Residents loved watching these talented horses show off their skills by playing the piano and even demonstrating how to cross their legs. 🎹

was full of energy as we welcomed Harmony Studios, a talented 22-member group of young musicians and performers dedicated to giving back to the local Manassas community. 🎶🪩

Residents and their loved ones tapped and clapped along to classic favorites like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “The Music Man,” and “Annie,” filling with extra smiles and movement.

After the performance, the group spent time visiting with residents, sharing conversation, and making meaningful connections. 🤩

Our Sweet Memories residents are diving into the history of the Kentucky Derby as part of our Signature Program, learning all about these iconic racehorses. 🏇 📖

This time the focus was on capturing their beauty through color and texture using colored pencils, gel pens, and chalk pastels.

From bold strokes to soft shading, each horse came to life in its own unique way. Some drew their own full design, while others focused on capturing specific details and features of the horse.

The Iron Horse Antique Shop was a perfect place to continue our Kentucky Derby theme this month! 🐎🌹

It was a blast scouting out Derby-themed treasures and antiques throughout the shop. One of the highlights of the day was when Judy discovered an incredible 1925 Kentucky Derby to***co card! What a special find and a perfect addition to our May adventures.

From vintage collectibles to great conversations and lots of smiles, it was a fantastic trip for everyone! 🤩
