As National Nurses Week is celebrated on May 6th, Iāve been thinking a lot about what it really means to be a nurseāand more importantly, what it means to be a nurse at Rocky Mountain Care.
I did not start my career as a nurse. I started as a CNA, learning what it meant to show up for people in some of their most vulnerable moments. That foundation has never left me. It shaped how I see this profession and how deeply I respect the work each of you do every single day.
Nursing is not just a job. Itās early mornings and late nights. Itās catching something small before it becomes something big. Itās advocating when no one else is speaking up. Itās sitting with someone when thereās nothing left to fixābut everything left to give.
Across our continuum, I see nurses showing up in ways that matter. You are coordinating care, leading teams, supporting families, preventing hospitalizations, and creating moments of dignity and comfort that people will never forget.
You are the reason our residents feel safe.
You are the reason families trust us.
You are the reason we are able to do what we do.
I also know this work isnāt easy. It asks a lot of youāemotionally, physically, and mentally. And yet, you continue to show up with compassion, professionalism, and strength.
This week, I just want to say thank you.
Thank you for the care you provide. Thank you for the leadership you show. Thank you for the difference you makeāoften in ways that no one else sees.
I am incredibly proud to be part of this team and to serve alongside you.
