Our favorite type of Employee Engagement!
Over this past weekend, three of our CNA's (Lydia, Abbey, and Chesney) were each asked to marry the love of their lives. Although the proposals happened all within the same weekend each engagement was unique and sentimental; surrounded by nature, the lake, and sunflowers.
Congratulations, Lydia, Abbey, and Chesney! May this next chapter of your lives be beautiful and adventurous! 💍✨

🌟 Congratulations to Averie Kelly, Norlite’s Teammate of the Month! 🌟

Averie is a Day Shift CNA who has been part of Team Norlite for just over two years—and the impact she has made during that time is undeniable. After being recognized as a CNA Mentor last October, Averie received an overwhelming 15 nominations from her teammates this month!

One teammate simply nominated her for being “an icon,” while others praised her for always working hard, treating everyone kindly, and continually going above and beyond for our residents.
Averie is gentle, caring and playful with the residents, while remaining thorough, efficient and attentive to their plans of care. She manages her time like a pro, communicates exceptionally well with her teammates and nurses, and is always willing to offer help—or ask for it when needed. She guides others with patience, maintains a positive attitude and makes sure no teammate is left behind.

Averie regularly picks up extra hours to ensure the team has the support and resources needed to provide high-quality care. She is sweet, silly and goofy when the moment calls for it, but always dependable, respectful and professional. Most importantly, she genuinely loves and cares for the people she serves—and the residents absolutely adore her!

Averie truly embodies what it means to be a caregiver. Her empathy, dedication and incredible work ethic make her an example that every CNA—whether new or experienced—can look up to.

🌟 TEAM NORLITE SPOTLIGHT: TAYLOR PAQUET, LLBSW! 🌟

For nearly four years, Taylor has brought an incredible combination of organization, compassion, curiosity, and determination to Norlite Nursing Center.

Her drive to keep learning has been a tremendous benefit to both our residents and the entire Team Norlite family. Taylor has developed a strong understanding of the facility’s responsibilities related to behavioral health and resident well-being, and she works alongside her social work teammate, Tabi, to coordinate discharge planning and help residents successfully navigate their next steps.

Over the past four months, while Tabi has been on maternity leave, Taylor has held down the Social Services Department on her own—and Norlite hasn’t missed a beat! She has absorbed the additional responsibilities while staying on top of assessments, care conferences, IDT meetings, discharge planning, and the many other daily demands of the department.

Outside of work, Taylor is an avid sports fan—especially when it comes to the Michigan Wolverines and Toronto Maple Leafs! She is a proud dog mom to Cookie, her chocolate Lab, and is married to her high school sweetheart, Jake. The two graduated from Negaunee High School together and now call West Ishpeming home.

Taylor is also a huge book nerd, plays softball in the Women’s Iron Range League, loves music—especially Harry Styles—and is simply a lot of fun to be around.

Taylor, your hard work, reliability, and positive energy do not go unnoticed. Norlite is incredibly lucky to have you on our team—and we know many of your coworkers are especially grateful to call you one of their closest friends, too!

Please join us in congratulating Athena Meyers, Norlite’s July Teammate of the Month!

Athena recently celebrated her 5-year anniversary with Norlite on June 21, and this marks the third time in five years she has earned Teammate of the Month honors. That says a lot.

Athena serves as our RN Supervisor / Clinical Care Manager, and she is truly one of those people who helps keep the whole place moving. She goes above and beyond for our residents, while also being a steady, supportive presence for our front-line teammates.

Whether she is helping staff start the morning with the information they need, picking up extra hours to support the team, listening when someone needs help, or bringing a little wit and kindness to a hard day, Athena makes a difference.

She is approachable, caring, helpful, and always willing to step in. She shows appreciation for others every day, and now it is our turn to show our appreciation for her.

Athena, thank you for your kindness, your leadership, your humor, and your commitment to Norlite’s residents and teammates. We are very grateful to have you on our team.

🎉 Please join us in congratulating our newest Nurse Aide Training Program graduates!

Today, these 8 individuals completed their CNA training, and we could not be more impressed. They have already shown intelligence, compassion, professionalism, and the kind of heart that makes a difference in long-term care.

We are excited to welcome Kalina Ceglinski, Jared Harper, Tatum LaPine, and Amanda “AJ” Schierkolk to Team Norlite as CNAs! The remaining graduates will be joining our friends at Team Eastwood.

Congratulations to all of you — we are proud of the work you’ve put in and excited for the care you’ll provide. 💙

Our next class starts July 8, with a new class beginning every 4 weeks.
