My herbs have done well this year, after not doing very good last year. I’ve been in full harvesting mode lately. 🌿😂

This morning I got a firsthand reminder of why I love herbs and why I keep an “emergency” herb kit in my cabinet.

While chopping sweet potatoes, I sliced my finger and it was bleeding pretty well. After applying firm pressure for several minutes, I sprinkled on a little bayberry powder, and the bleeding almost immediately stopped.

Moments like these remind me that herbs aren't just something to read about, they can be practical tools for everyday life. Whether it's keeping a few trusted herbs in your home, growing them in your garden, or learning how to use them safely, herbal knowledge can be a valuable part of caring for yourself and your family. I'm always amazed at how much we can learn from traditional herbal practices when we take the time to study and use them thoughtfully.
