Our office will be closed Monday, September 7, for Labor Day and will reopen Tuesday.

Labor Day gives us a reason to think about the people behind the work.

The first Labor Day celebration was held in New York City in 1882, during a time when workers were advocating for better working conditions, fair wages, and shorter workdays. Twelve years later, Labor Day became a federal holiday.

In our business, there are a lot of hands behind one finished monument. Someone selects and prepares the stone. Someone cuts, shapes, and finishes it. Someone carefully carves the design and lettering. And there are people who deliver and set it in the cemetery.

It’s skilled, hands-on work — and it’s a big part of what makes a monument something that can last for generations.

We will be closed on Wednesday to take a day to gather, enjoy some good food, play a few games, and spend time together at our annual summer employee party.
