Which stage are your eyes in? 👀

Your vision changes throughout your life, and the procedure that makes sense in your 20s may look very different from the one that makes sense in your 50s or 60s.

Here’s a simple way to think about it:

👁️ Ages 18–45: Your natural lens is typically still flexible, so options like LASIK or EVO ICL may be worth exploring.

👁️ Ages 45–60: As the natural lens becomes less flexible and reading vision changes, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) may become an option.

👁️ Ages 60+: When cataracts begin clouding the natural lens and affecting everyday vision, cataract surgery can replace it with a clear lens implant.

Of course, age is only part of the equation. Your prescription, eye health, lifestyle, and vision goals all help determine which procedure may actually be right for you.

How much time do you spend thinking about your glasses or contacts every day?

Finding your glasses before you get out of bed. Putting in contacts. Taking them out. Packing solution. Ordering replacements. Dealing with dryness. Trying to see at the pool or beach.

After a while, it all just becomes part of your routine. But depending on your eyes, it may not have to be.

Today, there are multiple vision correction options designed for different prescriptions, eye conditions, and lifestyles. A comprehensive evaluation can help determine which options you may qualify for and what life with less dependence on glasses or contacts could actually look like.

If you could ditch ONE thing forever, would you choose glasses or contacts? 👇💬

For years, patients with dry AMD have heard a lot about monitoring. Now, there’s something new to talk about! 👀

Metrolina Eye Associates is now offering Valeda Light Delivery System, an FDA-authorized treatment for certain patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Valeda uses specific wavelengths of light in a non-invasive treatment called photobiomodulation. It’s designed to target cells in the retina and is the first FDA-authorized treatment of its kind for dry AMD.

Not everyone with dry AMD will be a candidate, which is why an evaluation with a retina specialist is so important.

If you or someone you love is living with dry AMD, talk with the team at Metrolina Eye Associates to learn whether Valeda may be an option. 👇

Still waiting for your cataract to get “ripe”? 👀

That’s actually an outdated way of thinking about cataract surgery.

Today, the decision to have cataract surgery is less about waiting for a cataract to reach a certain stage and more about how your vision is affecting your everyday life.

Are you avoiding driving at night because of glare?
Do colors seem duller than they used to?
Is reading becoming more difficult?
Does your vision still feel cloudy even with updated glasses?

Those everyday changes matter.

You don’t have to wait until your vision becomes severely limited to start the conversation. A cataract evaluation can help determine how much your cataracts are affecting your vision and whether it may be time to consider surgery.

You can have glaucoma and still think your vision is perfectly fine.

That’s what makes glaucoma so easy to miss. In its early stages, there may be no pain, no obvious vision changes, and no warning that damage to the optic nerve is occurring.

In fact, many people with glaucoma don’t know they have it.

Regular comprehensive eye exams are one of the best ways to catch glaucoma early, especially if you have a family history or other risk factors. And when glaucoma is detected, today’s treatment options range from prescription eye drops and laser treatments to minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), depending on your individual needs.

The goal is simple: detect it early and protect as much of your vision as possible.

Meet Genius RF Microneedling, now available at Metrolina Eye Associates. ✨

So, what exactly is it?

Genius RF takes traditional microneedling a step further by delivering radiofrequency energy beneath the skin’s surface. The combination creates controlled micro-injuries while delivering heat into the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating the body’s natural collagen and elastin production.

Over time, this can help improve the appearance of:
✨ Fine lines and wrinkles
✨ Skin laxity
✨ Uneven skin texture
✨ Acne scars and other types of scarring
✨ Overall skin tone and firmness

One of the biggest benefits of Genius RF is that treatments can be customized based on your skin and specific concerns, allowing the provider to control the depth and energy delivered during treatment.

The result? A treatment designed to work with your body’s natural healing process for smoother, firmer, more refreshed-looking skin over time.

We’re excited to introduce Genius RF Microneedling to our Metrolina Eye Associates community!
