As the seasons change, it can be a good time to pause and check in with yourself. Fall often brings new routines, fuller schedules, and a reminder that you don’t have to carry everything alone.

Alexander Counseling Center offers a supportive place for teens ages 15+ and adults to work through anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and other challenges. Our therapists offer trauma-informed counseling, including EMDR, and will work with you at a pace that feels manageable.

In-person therapy is available in Medford for Jackson Care Connect members and private-pay clients. Telehealth is available throughout Oregon. We also accept AllCare and most commercial insurance plans (telehealth only at this time), though therapists who accept those plans may have a waitlist.

To ask about availability or request an appointment, call (541) 826-8282 or visit www.alexandercounseling.org.

Such a good reminder!

When we're kids, adulthood can feel like a destination to be reached: We imagine that once we turn 18, or move out of our parents' house, or cross some other arbitrary threshold, then we'll finally become a "real adult"—independent, responsible, moisturized, and prepared for whatever life brings.

Turns out, of course, that it's not so simple. The transition to adulthood is often awkward and messy, even painful, and that "real adult" feeling may be far more elusive than we once imagined—especially today, when traditional markers of adulthood, like parenthood or home ownership, can feel increasingly difficult to reach.

Yet too often, we secretly assume that we're the only ones struggling to "adult"—even though in reality, "everyone's adulting skills look like an uneven graph, with peaks and valleys," explains author Alice Boyes, Ph.D. Letting go of these major myths about adulthood could make the transition feel far less fraught, she argues, and may even help you uncover strengths you didn't know you had.

What most surprised you about becoming an adult? Let us know in the comments!

Therapy is a place where you can speak honestly—not a place where you have to edit yourself, hide important parts of your life, or worry about being judged.

At Alexander Counseling Center, we believe meaningful counseling begins with feeling respected and understood. We welcome teens and adults from diverse identities, backgrounds, family structures, relationships, and life experiences.

Counseling may offer support with:
• Identity, self-esteem, and belonging
• Gender-related concerns or questions

• Anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm
• Trauma and difficult life experiences
• Major changes and life transitions

Our goal is to offer a supportive space where each person’s experiences, relationships, values, and sense of self can be explored with care and without assumptions.

Current openings include in-person and Telehealth counseling in Medford for teens ages 15+ and adults. Therapists with availability are currently able to accept Jackson Care Connect members and private pay clients.

The teenage years can bring enormous changes, pressures, and emotions—and it is not always easy for teens to talk with the people who care about them most.

Counseling can give teens a private, supportive place to feel heard, better understand what they are experiencing, and develop healthier ways to communicate and cope. A teen does not need to be in crisis to benefit from having another trusted person in their corner.

Alexander Counseling Center offers counseling for teens who may need support with:
• Anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm
• Trauma and difficult life experiences
• ADHD and related challenges
• Identity, self-esteem, and belonging
• Family, friendship, or relationship concerns
• Withdrawal, irritability, or difficulty communicating

In-person and Telehealth counseling is currently available in Medford for teens ages 15+. Therapists with availability are currently able to accept Jackson Care Connect members and private pay.

Contact Alexander Counseling Center to learn more, discuss available payment options, or request an appointment for your teen. Call (541) 826-8282 or visit us online at www.alexandercounseling.org to learn more.

Difficult experiences can continue affecting the mind and body long after the experience itself has ended. Trauma may show up as painful memories, anxiety, irritability, avoidance, feeling constantly on guard, difficulty trusting others, or a sense of being emotionally stuck.

Trauma-informed counseling offers a supportive place to understand these responses, develop ways to feel safer and more grounded, and begin moving forward at a manageable pace.

Alexander Counseling Center offers trauma and PTSD counseling, including EMDR. EMDR is a structured therapy approach that can help the brain process distressing experiences without requiring someone to repeatedly describe every detail of what happened.

Telehealth appointments are currently available for teens ages 15+ and adults. We have immediate openings for Jackson Care Connect members and for private-pay clients throughout Oregon.

Contact Alexander Counseling Center to learn more about trauma counseling, EMDR, or requesting an appointment. Call (541) 826-8282 or visit us at www.alexandercounseling.org to learn more.
