🍓🍋 Our friend Jaxson had a blast at Ms. Dana's Strawberry Lemonade Stand today! 🍋🍓

Jaxson followed recipe cards to search for ingredients hidden throughout the sensory bin, using his tongs and hands to scoop, sort, and mix his very own strawberry lemonade creation.
During this activity, Jaxson worked on:

✨ Fine motor strength and coordination
✨ Visual scanning and attention to detail
✨ Following multi-step directions
✨ Counting and matching skills
✨ Bilateral coordination
✨ Sensory exploration and imaginative play
✨ Categorizing and identifying ingredients
✨ Expanding expressive language skills
✨ Using longer phrases and sentences to describe items, actions, and steps in the activity
✨ Answering questions and participating in conversation
Jaxson was highly engaged and enjoyed searching for all the ingredients needed to complete his recipe.

This fun, hands-on activity supported both occupational therapy and speech-language goals while encouraging creativity, communication, and problem-solving. What a sweet way to learn and play! 🍓❤️

Little hands, BIG skills 💙✨

Today we worked on fine motor skills using colorful paperclips and a cup activity! This fun hands on task helped support hand strength, bilateral coordination, focus, problem solving, and visual motor skills, all while keeping learning playful and engaging. 😊

Harrison did a great job staying focused and using his hands carefully one clip at a time! 🎉

Scissor skills are about so much more than just cutting paper ✂️💛

As children learn to open and close scissors, hold paper steady, and follow lines, they are building important developmental skills that support everyday activities at home and school!

Scissor activities help strengthen: ✂️ Fine motor skills
👀 Eye-hand coordination
🖐️ Bilateral coordination
🧠 Focus and attention
These foundational skills support handwriting, dressing, feeding, classroom participation, and so much more!

At Cornerstone Therapy Services, we love making learning fun while helping children grow stronger and more confident through play-based activities 💙💚💛

✨ Sensory Avoiders ✨

Some kiddos experience the world a little differently — certain sounds, textures, smells, lights, or movements can feel overwhelming to their nervous system. 💛

A child who avoids sensory input may:

• Cover their ears in noisy places
• Avoid messy play or certain clothing textures
• Be sensitive to bright lights or strong smells
• Prefer quiet environments
• Feel nervous on swings, slides, or climbing equipment
• Be particular about food textures

These behaviors are not “bad behavior” they are often a child’s way of trying to feel safe, comfortable, and regulated. 🫶

Understanding sensory needs helps us better support our kiddos with patience, compassion, and the right tools to help them thrive. 🌈

💙 “Hi, I’m a Sensory Seeker!” 💙

Some kiddos experience the world by seeking extra movement, touch, sound, or sensory input throughout their day. You may notice things like constant movement, chewing on objects, crashing into cushions, humming, spinning, touching everything, or having a hard time sitting still — and that’s often their body’s way of trying to regulate and feel organized. 🫶

Sensory seekers aren’t “bad” or “too much.” Their nervous systems are simply looking for input to help them learn, focus, and engage with the world around them.

At Cornerstone Therapy Services, we love helping families better understand their child’s sensory needs while building strategies that support success at home, school, and in the community. 💚

✨ Movement is communication. ✨ Sensory needs are real. ✨ Understanding changes everything.

We had so much fun with this bird feeding sensory activity today in OT! 🐦✨

During this activity, we worked on:

• Fine motor skills using tongs to pick up “worms”
• Hand strength and coordination
• Bilateral coordination (using both hands together)
• Sensory exploration with different textures (oats, pipe cleaners)
• Visual attention and focus
This playful setup helps build important foundational skills while keeping kids engaged and excited to learn! 💛
