Thomas Barbin, 72, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Cedar View Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Methuen.

He was born on April 30, 1954, in Methuen, MA, to the late Leo Barbin and Dorothy (LaPlante) Rinaldo.

Tom was a simple, kind-hearted man who loved his family very much. His greatest joy was spending time with the people he loved, and he will be remembered for the love and care he shared with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Barbin.
Tom is survived by his sister-in-law, Denise A. Barbin of Dracut; his nieces and nephews, Christopher Barbin and his wife, Michelle, Michael Barbin and his wife, Katherine, Kelly Barbin, Catherine Gordon and her husband, Dylan. His memory also lives on with his grandnieces and grandnephews, Matthew DeLuca, Jillian DeLuca, Jackson Barbin, Ella Barbin, Kaden Gordon, Bennett Barbin, Rylan Gordon, William Barbin, and Cody Gordon.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hour s Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 9:00 AM until 10: 00 AM at the Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 25th at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street in Methuen. The Methuen Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Barbin family.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Jo Ann (Costa) Phillips, who died on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. She was 63 years old.

Jo Ann was born on April 17, 1963, to Robert Costa and the late Carol (Kalil) Costa. Born and raised in Methuen, she worked as a buyer in the medical industry.

Jo Ann enjoyed gardening, traveling, working, spending time at the beach and in the mountains, and most of all, enjoying good food— especially her husband’s cooking. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her soulmate, Steven, to whom she was married for nearly 32 years.

Jo Ann was predeceased by her beloved mother, Carol Costa.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Steven P. Phillips of Methuen; her father, Robert Costa; cousin, Michael Rezek; aunt, Kathleen Rezek; siblings, Patricia Ives Costa and Michael Costa; niece, Katie Costa; and many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Jo Ann’s loving spirit, warm heart, and the memories she created with those closest to her will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Shirley Silva, 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank L. Silva, Jr.

Born in Bardstown, Kentucky, on March 25, 1937, Shirley was the daughter of the late Bernard and Agnes (Ballard) Eaton. She spent more than twenty years working for Raytheon Company in Andover, Massachusetts, before returning to Louisville. There she served as a secretary with the Jefferson County Public School District for over a decade until her retirement. In her younger years, Shirley took particular joy in clog dancing.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her two sons, Frank B. Silva and his wife, Janet, of Salem, New Hampshire, and Keith B. Silva and his wife, Deborah, of Louisville, Kentucky; her sister, Theresa Duvall and her husband, Daniel, of Louisville; her brother, Patrick Eaton and his wife, Victoria, of Louisville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Shirley’s life at a graveside service on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Methuen, Massachusetts. Guests are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. There will be no procession from the funeral home.

Lionel Blanchet, age 91, of Methuen, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Boston Medical Center in Brighton.

Born on May 18, 1935, in Dégelis, Quebec, Canada, Lionel was the beloved son of the late Albert and Annemarie Blanchet. In 1964, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and kindness. He dedicated 30 years of service to Malden Mills, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment.

Lionel shared a remarkable love story with his devoted wife of 64 years. Together they built a lifetime of cherished memories, and they were looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this October.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister and three brothers.

Family was the heart of Lionel's life. He is survived by his loving wife, Gisele Blanchet of Methuen; three brothers and three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was one of eleven children born to Albert and Annemarie Blanchet.

Lionel will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, and the love and generosity he shared with everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Helli K. (Tallgren) Lammi, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026 at Aspen Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Haverhill, MA. She had lived a very long and happy life of 97 years. Helli was the beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Lammi with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Teuva, Finland on January 6, 1929, she grew up with 3 siblings who have predeceased her: her sister Elmi (Tallgren) Tepponen, and brothers Armas Tallgren and Kalle Tallgren. At the age of 17, she boarded a ship and came to the United States to live with her aunt and uncle in Fitchburg, MA which had a vibrant Finnish community. There she met Raymond, who was also of Finnish descent and they married on July 15, 1950.

She and Raymond were devoted parents to Linda Lammi of Methuen, MA; Eric Lammi of Holliston, MA; and Peter Lammi of Portland, OR. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond, and her son-in-law, Emmanuel Papanicholas. She is survived by her three children; her daughter-in-law, Mary Lammi of Holliston, MA; her grandchildren, Alex Papanicholas (and his wife, Kerri) of Raynham, MA, Jason Papanicholas of Brighton, MA, Elias Lammi of Holliston, MA, and Keira Lammi of Holliston, MA; and her great-grandson, Jackson Papanicholas.

Helli was the family matriarch - a strong, independent, and adventurous woman well before her time, and a deeply loving mother. She was extremely proud of her Finnish heritage and never hesitated to tell others about...

Joanna D’Attorre, 84, of Methuen, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen.

Born in Lawrence, MA on June 26, 1942, Joanna was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Battestina (Iannuccilli) D’Attorre. She attended Lawrence public schools and graduated from Lawrence High School before continuing her education at Merrimack College in North Andover.

Joanna dedicated 42 years of her professional life as an Administrative Assistant at Raytheon in Andover, retiring in 2002. A faithful communicant of St. Monica Church in Methuen, she was an active member of the Ladies’ Sodality where she served as President. She also served as a Eucharistic minister, including responsibility for scheduling the ministers. She was previously recognized with a Cheverus Award from the Archdiocese of Boston due to her volunteerism and devotion to St. Monica Parish. She was also the president of the St. Claire League of the Merrimack Valley for many years.

She found great joy in crocheting, creating blankets and throws with her sister for church functions and crafting many more for family and friends over the years. A gifted gourmet cook, Joanna delighted in preparing large meals using her mother’s treasured recipes from Italy and took pleasure in entertaining groups of family and friends in her home. Anthony J. Cruz, 40, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, suddenly passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Born on December 11, 1985, Anthony possessed a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and an endlessly curious mind. To know him was to know someone who delighted in sharing the things he loved, whether through conversation, art, music, cooking, or the simple joy of discovering something new together. No day seemed complete unless he had brightened someone else’s with a laugh, a thoughtful insight, or another piece of knowledge he couldn’t wait to pass along.

Anthony was an artist for most of his life. From his teenage years through adulthood, he poured countless hours into drawing and digital illustration, developing a distinctive manga-inspired style that resonated with people around the world. Through his artwork he built friendships, inspired fellow artists, and cultivated an online community that admired not only his talent, but the warmth and encouragement he freely offered to others.

Creativity shaped nearly everything Anthony did. He found joy in music that stirred the imagination, especially the sweeping soundtracks of the games he loved. He appreciated stories that celebrated hope, perseverance, and compassion, and those themes became part of the way he viewed life itself. Coi Dinh Ho, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire.Born on January 14, 1947, in Thua Thien, Vietnam, Coi was the beloved son of the late Chuoc Dinh Ho and Nhan Thi Pham.

Coi was the true definition of a hardworking man. He was a survivor who endured extraordinary hardships throughout his life, including the Vietnam War, years as a prisoner of war, and the challenges of poverty. He proudly served as a decorated officer in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, earning the distinction of wearing the Red Beret, whose soldiers were known as the "Angels in Red Hats." He served his country for seven years before spending twelve years as a prisoner of war. His courage, resilience, and perseverance were defining qualities that remained with him throughout his life.

After immigrating to the United States, Coi worked many long days as an assembler, dedicating himself to providing for his family. He was known for his generosity, kindness, outgoing personality, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Coi enjoyed being the life of the party and had a passion for cooking, fishing, gardening, and caring for animals.
