Nicklaus Children’s was proud to participate in the Children’s Hospital Association’s Family Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C., where patients, families, and children’s hospitals from across the nation came together to ensure the voices of children are heard on Capitol Hill.

We were especially honored to be joined by Matteo Rosario and his parents. Matteo, a Stage IV Burkitt’s lymphoma survivor, shared his story and met with members of South Florida’s congressional delegation and their staff to advocate for policies that strengthen children’s healthcare. Through the graciousness of Congresswoman Rep. María Elvira Salazar, Matteo also had the opportunity to step onto the House floor and witness Congress at work firsthand—an unforgettable experience for a remarkable young advocate.

Family Advocacy Day serves as a powerful reminder that behind every policy discussion are real children and families whose lives depend on access to high-quality pediatric care. Nicklaus Children’s remains committed to working alongside patients, families, policymakers, and partners to protect and strengthen the programs that help children thrive.
