Congrats Heidi Huestis | 40 Years at Porter!

The year was 1986... Ferris Bueller skips school, Super Mario Bros. hits the screens and Whitney Houston asks the question everyone seems to be feeling: “How will I know?”

Here at Porter, Heidi Huestis began her journey of care.

For 40 years, Heidi has been a steady, dedicated presence at Porter. She started as an aide and has spent the last many years as a unit clerk on the Medical Surgical unit. Colleagues know her as the team’s little detective — the one who can track down the right medication details for patients, often digging until she finds exactly what’s needed.

What stands out most is her big heart. Heidi loves spending time with patients and helping however she can. She’s also part of the tight-knit work family on the unit — the kind of team that looks out for one another, especially during the toughest times.

Thank you, Heidi, for 40 years of dedication and ❤️ at Porter. Your steady presence and care have made a real difference for patients and colleagues alike.

Join us in congratulating Heidi on this wonderful milestone!

AI is already part of many teens’ daily lives, from school tools to search engines to social media.

For some young people, it is also becoming something more personal: a companion, a confidant or even a romantic or sexual connection.

For parents, that can be unsettling. Steven Schlozman, MD, a child psychiatrist at University of Vermont Health, says the answer is not panic, but paying attention.

“The concern is not simply that a teen talks to a chatbot. It is what happens if that relationship starts replacing the discomfort, compromise and growth that come with real relationships.”
