If you take one thing from this week, take this. Sleep is a nervous system function, and most of the people who are struggling with sleep (or whose kids are struggling) have a nervous system that hasn't been able to drop down out of stress mode in a very long time.
We don't talk about it this way enough. We blame poor sleep on screens, on caffeine, on stress in the abstract, on "just being a bad sleeper." But sleep isn't a personality trait. It's a physiological process that requires a regulated nervous system to actually happen.
When that system is supported, sleep often improves on its own. Not because we did something fancy. Because we gave the body the conditions it was asking for.
Save this for the next time you're tempted to blame yourself or your kid for broken sleep. And share it with someone who needs the reframe. ✨
