There is no consensus on the amount of exercise in pregnancy or the type or the intensity.
There are some women who lift and run and row and do all manner of things during their pregnancies and there are some who have to stop at 12 weeks or even earlier because they’re sick, because their pregnancy is complicated, or because they are high risk.
What exercise works for one woman is not going to work for another one.
And this is the problem with social media.
Just because you are an influencer and have had a baby does not make you an expert in pregnancy and postpartum exercise science, programming, or strength training.
Just because you are a strength coach who has had children and come “back” doesn’t make you an expert either.
Just because you are a strength coach with a program and a large social media following doesn’t make you an expert either.
And finally, just because you have a PhD and do the research doesn’t make you an expert either.
Myself included.
What makes you an expert is the client sitting in front of you. You can have all the knowledge and the research, but if you aren’t listening to the woman sitting in front of you or purchasing your programs, you’re missing something.
What works for one mom may not work for the other one. Yes, there are things that can be applied to the general population, but at the end of the day, personalized programming is the gold standard.
