Community Commons: Fake Cake 🎂✨
Come make something sweet — but definitely not edible.
For our June Community Commons, we’ll be decorating fake cakes using tissue boxes, picture frames, or an object you bring from home to “cake-ify.” We’ll provide materials, offer a brief demonstration, and then give you time to play, practice piping, get creative, and connect with others in a welcoming space.
Saturday, June 20
2:00–4:00 PM
At The Therapeutic Workshop
No experience needed. Just bring yourself, maybe a friend, and a willingness to make something wonderfully weird and sweet.
Please note: creations will need time to dry, so a separate pick-up time will be designated.
Community Commons events are free community gatherings. While hosted at The Therapeutic Workshop, this is not therapy or art therapy.
Reserve your spot through the Free Community Events page on our website.

Living with a chronic illness can change the way you relate to your body, your identity, and the life you imagined for yourself. You don’t have to navigate that alone.

Grow with the Flow is a 6-week virtual therapy group for women and nonbinary adults living with chronic illness. Through a combination of gentle movement, creative expression, guided reflection, and group discussion, we’ll explore the emotional realities of chronic illness while building tools for self-compassion, connection, and resilience.

Together we’ll explore:
✨ The relationship between chronic illness, mental health, and identity
✨ Ways to reconnect with and listen to your body
✨ Creative expression as a tool for processing difficult experiences
✨ Building confidence in your needs, boundaries, and self-understanding
✨ Finding support and connection with others who truly get it

No prior yoga or art experience is required. Art supplies will be provided and mailed to participants.

📍 Virtual (Wisconsin residents only)
📅 6 Weeks Beginning in July
💲 $50 per session
👥 Women & Nonbinary Adults (18+) Living with Chronic Illness

Emotion Creatures Art Therapy Group is Coming this July!

Some feelings are easy to talk about. Others are harder to name, understand, or make space for. In this 4-week experiential therapy group, you’ll create a creature entirely your own using fabric, recycled materials, imagination, and curiosity.

As your creature takes shape, we’ll explore questions like:
👁️ What does this part of me carry?
🛡️ What is it protecting?
💬 What is it trying to communicate?
🌱 What might it need?

No sewing experience or artistic background is required. Just a willingness to create, reflect, and connect with others in a supportive environment.

This group combines art-making, discussion, and self-exploration to help build awareness of your inner world while developing creative skills and bringing something unique to life.

📍 In Person at The Therapeutic Workshop
📅 4 Weeks Starting in July
💲 $50/session
🔞 Ages 18+

🖤 Creative Commons: Emotion Creatures 🖤

Last night’s Creative Commons was full of clay, creativity, laughter, and a little bit of vulnerability.

We started the evening with a challenge: creating blind self-portraits out of clay. Without looking down at their work, participants used only touch and intuition to shape a version of themselves. The results were funny, surprising, imperfect, and wonderfully human.

From there, the clay took on a life of its own.

Creatures emerged. Flowers bloomed. Tiny worlds appeared. Strange and colorful beings crawled across the table. Each creation was unique, and each reflected something about the person who made it.

One of the things we love most about Creative Commons is that it gives people permission to create without worrying about being “good” at art. There’s no pressure to perform, no expectation to make something perfect—just an opportunity to play, experiment, and spend time with other humans making things together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so much fun. We loved seeing what emerged from a few blocks of clay and a room full of imagination.

If you missed this one, don’t worry. We host free community events throughout the year because we believe people need places where they can create, connect, and simply be themselves.

We hope to see you at the next Creative Commons. 🖤

Happy Pride Month! 🌈🎲

At The Therapeutic Workshop, we believe everyone deserves spaces where they can show up as themselves, be welcomed, and feel like they belong.

Whether you’re rolling dice around a table, creating art, walking a trail, or sharing a story, meaningful connection starts when people feel safe enough to be authentic.

This month—and every month—we remain committed to being an LGBTQIA2S+ affirming space where people can explore, grow, heal, and build community.

To all the adventurers, creators, dreamers, and heroes in our community: we’re glad you’re here.

Happy Pride Month. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

🌱 Common Ground

Join us every Friday afternoon throughout the summer and into the fall for a free community gathering focused on gardening, nature, and meaningful connection.

We’ll spend time outdoors tending plants, getting our hands in the soil, connecting with nature, and sharing space with others in our community. Plants will be provided, and no gardening experience is required.

While this gathering is facilitated by a licensed therapist, it is not therapy, group therapy, or a mental health treatment service. It’s simply an opportunity to slow down, spend time in nature, and connect with other people in a welcoming community space.

Reserve your spot by scanning the QR code or visiting the Free Community Events page on our website.

We’d love to grow with you this season. 🌿

🎨✨ Get Playful. Get Creative. Make an Emotion Creature. ✨🎨

What happens when you give yourself permission to play for an evening?

Join Haley for a free Creative Commons community event where we’ll use clay to create unique “Emotion Creatures”—playful little beings inspired by feelings, experiences, imagination, and curiosity. No artistic experience needed. Just bring yourself.

Whether you come on your own or invite a friend, this is a chance to slow down, make something with your hands, connect with others, and enjoy a creative evening in a welcoming community space.

This is a community art event, not therapy or art therapy. While it’s hosted at The Therapeutic Workshop, no mental health treatment or therapeutic services are being provided during this event.

Spots are limited and tend to fill quickly.

Last night was one of those evenings that reminds us why we love creating community spaces.

We spent the evening making embossed tin art frames, taking Polaroid photos, sharing stories, and connecting with so many wonderful people during Bay View Gallery Night. The pieces people created were beautiful, unique, and full of personality.

What stood out most, though, were the conversations. It was restorative, energizing, and a reminder that sometimes simply making something alongside other people can be enough.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, created with us, and shared part of your evening.

If you missed it, don’t worry—we’ll be bringing this activity back for our Christmas in July Community Commons event this summer. We’d love to create with you then.
