This weekend, we gathered to honor the life of Mike Bynum ā a visionary leader, tireless advocate for Moab, and longtime Chair of the Moab Regional Hospital Board.
Mike served on the hospital board for more than a decade and played a pivotal role in helping bring the current Moab Regional Hospital to life. At a time when many believed a new hospital would never happen, Mike brought what can only be described as tenacious momentum ā the ability to keep moving important work forward through obstacles, setbacks, and doubt.
Within his first two years on the board, Mike helped rework the hospital project into a financially achievable plan and secure the funding needed to move it forward. Less than five years after joining the board, the doors of the new hospital opened.
But Mikeās impact reached far beyond buildings and projects. He believed deeply in people. He mentored leaders, championed underdogs, created opportunities, and had a remarkable ability to see potential in others long before they saw it in themselves.
Mike loved Moab fiercely and spent his life helping shape the community we know today ā through healthcare, business, housing, education, and countless conversations over coffee where ideas turned into action.
Those of us who had the privilege of working alongside Mike will carry forward many things he taught us:
Keep helping people grow.
Keep doing the work that matters.
Keep showing up for one another.
Keep making Moab better than we found it.
Thank you, Mike, for the extraordinary gifts you gave to Moab Regional Hospital and to this community. You will be deeply missed.
