We’re pleased to share that CoxHealth was recently named Employer of the Year by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD).

This award highlights our long-standing commitment to developing talent through registered apprenticeship programs that create meaningful, accessible career pathways in health care. With more than 350 active apprentices, CoxHealth supports growth across a range of in-demand roles, including EMT, medical assistant, certified phlebotomy technician and graduate nurse residency programs.

This recognition came during Missouri Apprenticeship Week, officially designated by Governor Mike Kehoe to highlight the critical role registered apprenticeships play in workforce development and the state’s long term economic growth.

“Registered apprenticeships are a proven, industry-driven training model that opens the door to high quality careers by providing a clear pathway for Missourians to build in-demand skills, advance professionally, and secure long-term success in growing fields,” said Governor Kehoe. “Across Missouri, thousands of apprentices are building the skills needed to support the state’s economy in priority fields such as public safety, agriculture, education, advanced manufacturing, and healthcare.”

Apprenticeships play a critical role in strengthening Missouri’s workforce, pairing hands on learning with mentorship and real world experience. At CoxHealth, these programs are designed to empower individuals at every stage of life, from students entering the field to career changers seeking new opportunities, while ensuring our communities have access to highly-skilled, compassionate caregivers.

This honor reflects the dedication of our teams, mentors and apprentices who invest in learning, leadership and each other every day. We’re grateful to be recognized alongside partners across the state and remain committed to building a strong, sustainable healthcare workforce for the future.

Being ready for a medical emergency isn't something we leave to chance. It's something we practice — deliberately, regularly, and together.

Recently, our teams took part in a mock code drill, a simulated emergency situation aimed at evaluating our training in a realistic, high-pressure environment. From nurses and doctors to support personnel and respiratory therapists, the entire team collaborated to practice the coordinated response required in actual emergencies.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘀 𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲?
A mock code is a practice drill that simulates a cardiac or respiratory arrest — a "code" situation — without an actual patient in crisis. It's an opportunity for staff to run through life-saving protocols in real time, identify any gaps in communication or workflow, and sharpen teamwork. Think of it like a fire drill, but for one of the most critical moments in emergency medicine.

Our team arrived eager to learn, prepared to collaborate, and willing to do whatever is necessary to deliver the highest quality care for our patients. This dedication does not cease when the drill concludes; it extends into every shift, every patient encounter, and every moment our community needs us.

CoxHealth is proud to honor nurses throughout the health system whose leadership, compassion, and dedication to patient care leave a lasting impression on their teams and the communities they serve.

This year, the CoxHealth Clinical Nurse Excellence Award – Silver was presented to Kallie Provost, the coordinator of the Time Critical Diagnosis program at Cox Monett, in recognition of her exceptional contributions in the Emergency Department and Med-Surg unit.

Kallie plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of care offered at the hospital, especially for patients facing time-sensitive medical situations. Renowned for her enthusiasm, positivity, and commitment, she continually strives to elevate the standard of care while supporting her colleagues.

One of Kallie’s most significant strengths is the rapport she has developed throughout the hospital. By engaging with both the Emergency Department and Med-Surg unit, she has established herself as a trusted and approachable team member. Her colleagues view her not merely as someone managing processes but as a teammate who is invested in their success and dedicated to ensuring the best possible care for patients.

Her commitment to improvement is also apparent in her behind-the-scenes efforts. Kallie dedicates numerous hours to collecting and analyzing data to support initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and the overall quality of care.

Her dedication has also been recognized beyond the hospital. For the second year in a row, Kallie will present at the American Heart Association conference, showcasing the remarkable results achieved by the Cox Monett team and underscoring the hospital’s dedication to excellence in patient care.

CoxHealth takes pride in celebrating her achievements and the positive impact she has on patients, colleagues, and the community.

Congratulations, Kallie!

How did we get so lucky? 🍨

A huge thank you to the Cox Monett Auxiliary for treating our employees to a build-your-own sundae bar. From the ice cream to the toppings and all the smiles in between, it was such a fun way to brighten the day for our teams.

The Auxiliary does so much more than raise funds to support our hospital. Time and time again, they find meaningful ways to show appreciation for the people who care for our community. Their kindness, generosity, and encouragement make a difference not only for our staff but for everyone who walks through our doors.

We are incredibly grateful for all they do for Cox Monett and the community we serve.

Wrapping Up National Hospital Week in style — and in history.

What better way to close out this special week than with a little trip back in time?

Several of our incredible Medical-Surgical team members donned vintage nursing uniforms for the day — and the response from patients said it all: smiles, laughter, warm memories, and pure joy.

Nursing has always been a calling rooted in compassion and heart. And while the uniforms may have changed over the decades, those values never have. Looking at this photo, it's easy to see that the same spirit that inspired generations of nurses before us lives on in every single one of our team members today.

To our patients — thank you for the smiles you gave right back. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

Last night, we had the honor of celebrating the incredible evening and overnight crew during our Employee Appreciation Night.

While the rest of the community sleeps, these dedicated teammates are right here — answering the call, providing compassionate care, and keeping our patients safe through every quiet hour of the night.

Thank you to every nurse, tech, assistant, support staff member, and team player who shows up when it matters most. We see you. We appreciate you. We are so proud to call you Cox Monett family.
