Mary L. Copas

Mary L. Copas, 100, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello.She was born on April 23, 1926 in Thompkinsville, KY to the late Will and Martha (Carnahan) Goad. On June 1, 1944 she married Oscar Copas in Thompkinsville, KY. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1982.

Mary had worked at Bryan Manufacturing, the old White County Hospital and Twin Lakes School Corporation as a cook. She was a devoted mother to all five of her children, but gave extra time and dedication to her Stephen who had special needs. She took care of him until his death in 2014.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello. Mary enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was known for her noodles and tender pot roast. Her last family gathering was on Memorial Day in Medaryville where she was able to spend time with most of her family. She lived in her own home, cooked and did laundry until about two weeks before she passed.

She is survived by her children, Michael C. Copas of Monticello, Marilyn Lowe of Lafayette, Marsha (Tom) Kripisch of Medaryville, Connie (Shane) Mayhew of Fulton, MD; grandchildren, Rodney Lowe, Machelle Hamilton, Melanie Krystal, John Mayhew, Mellissa Mayhew; eight great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren and one on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, Oscar, she was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Copas, brothers, Loren Goad, Lawrence Goad, sisters, Inelle Smith, Lola Jean Muse, Dorothy Pearl Emberton; grandson, Gary Quasebarth, Jr.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with pastor Ian McMillan officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Alicia Wright

Alicia Jo (Quackenbush) Wright, 69, of Monticello, passed away on June 11, 2026, at White Oak Health Campus.

She was born on August 28, 1956, in Monticello to James and Marjorie (Cauble) Quackenbush. She was a 1974 graduate of Twin Lakes High School and later from Indiana University - Kokomo School of Nursing.

Alicia was a public health nurse for Carroll County, a surgical nurse at IU Health White Memorial Hospital, and retired as a school nurse at Roosevelt Middle School and Twin Lakes High School.

On December 1, 1974, at the Monticello Christian Church, Alicia married James G. Wright. Their 48 years of holy matrimony produced a large and loving family: James “Trent” and wife Laura, of Monticello, and their children Andrew, Oliver, and Matthew; Brandon and wife Darlena, of Monticello, and their children Keaton and Xavier; Johnathan and wife Monica, of Monticello, and his children Dayn, Payslee, and Kynlee and step-children Dylan Lucy and his son Kayne and Kiarra Lucy; and Adam and his wife Ashley, of Lafayette, and their children James “Cooper” and Connor.

Supporting her family at their events, traveling, lying by her pool, and having adventures with her friends were her favorite things to do. Alicia didn’t know a stranger and made friends quickly wherever she went. She was a long-time member of the Idaville First Church of God.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Alicia is survived by her father James, her four sons and their families, brother-in-law Don (Jacquie) Wright, sister-in-law Susie Wright, brother-in-law Tom Oilar, and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.Predeceasing Alicia in death are her husband James, mother Marjorie, sister Liz Oilar, brothers Joe and Jimmy Quackenbush, and brother-in-law Gale Wright.

Visitation for Alicia will be held June 16, 2026, at Springer Voorhies Draper Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be June 17, 2026, at 11:00 at the funeral home with visitation for one hour prior.

Burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Alicia’s name can be made to the Red Shirt Scholarship in Memory of Laura Bernfield, ℅ Jeff Bernfield, 8869 W. 1200 N, Monticello, IN 47960. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Joyce A. Smith

Joyce A. Smith, 83, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at her residence.

She was born on March 26, 1943 in Little Rock to the late Alex Sanford "Pete" and Ruth (Duke) Roberson. She married Jack G. Smith. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2019.

She had worked at Peters Revington, Tru Flite and part time at Smitty's Bait Shop. During her younger years, she worked as a waitress.

Joyce enjoyed cooking and fishing. Her greatest joy was cherished time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Curtis Palladino of Yeoman, Mark Palladino of Yeoman; grandchildren, C.J. Palladino, Jason Palladino, Crystal Palladino, Jennifer Palladino, Jessica Palladino, Wyatt Palladino, Timmy Brady, Rachel Brady, Megan Brady, and Jonathon Palladino; several great grandchildren; and sister, Debra Canaday of Searcy, AR.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jack, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lorna Brady; siblings, Rita Reeves, Lloyd Roberson, and Vickey Bufford.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.

Burial will follow in Yeoman Cemetery.

Reynaldo Perez Vasquez

Reynaldo Pérez Vázquez, de 55 años y residente de Monticello, falleció el domingo 7 de junio de 2026 en su domicilio.

Nació el 21 de enero de 1971 en San Luis Potosí, México, hijo de María Vázquez Pérez y del difunto Martiniano Pérez. El 21 de diciembre de 1992 contrajo matrimonio con María del Carmen Chávez, quien falleció el 29 de julio de 2014.

Trabajó en Monsanto, Jordan Manufacturing, Girtz Industries y en el sector de la construcción.

A Reynaldo le encantaba jugar al béisbol y ver partidos de fútbol y boxeo. Disfrutaba de la pesca, la caza, la jardinería y el baile, valorando los momentos sencillos que le brindaban felicidad. Sobre todo, atesoraba el tiempo compartido con su familia, especialmente con sus queridos nietos, cuyas risas y amor lo eran todo para él. Su calidez, fortaleza y amor hacia sus seres queridos serán recordados siempre.

Le sobreviven seis hijos: Reynaldo Pérez Chávez Jr., María Griselda Montes (Jiovany), Jorge David Pérez, Tania Pérez Caruso (Matthew), Ani Yahaira Pérez y Yanely Pérez-Chávez; sus nietos: Camila R. Montes, Jiovany J. Montes, Rafael S. Montes, y un nieto en camino; Arabella V. Caruso, Archie E. Caruso, Analia M. Caruso y Arlo M. Caruso; y sus hermanos: Ofelia Castillo, Celia Gámez, María Jesús Pérez, Alberto Pérez-Vázquez, Nicolás Pérez-Vázquez y Mario Pérez-Vázquez.

Además de su madre y su esposa María, le precedieron en la muerte una hija pequeña, María Guadalupe Pérez, y su hermano, Petronilo Pérez-Vázquez.

El velatorio tendrá lugar el viernes 12 de junio de 2026, de 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m., en la funeraria Springer-Voorhis-Draper. A continuación, a las 2:00 p. m., se celebrará el servicio funerario en honor a la vida de Reynaldo en las mismas instalaciones.

Reynaldo Perez Vazquez, 55, of Monticello, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at his residence.

He was born on January 21, 1971 in San Luis, Potosi, Mexico to Maria Vazquez Perez and the late Martiniano Perez. On December 21, 1992 he married Maria Del Carmen Chavez. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2014.

He had worked at Monsanto, Jordan Manufacturing, Girtz Industries and in construction. Reynaldo loved playing baseball and watching soccer and boxing. He found joy in fishing, hunting, gardening and dancing, embracing the simple moments that brought him happiness. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren whose laughter and love meant the world to him. His warmth, strength and love for those closest to him will be remembered always.

He is survived by six children, Reynaldo Perez Chavez, Jr., Maria Griselda Montes (Jiovany), Jorge David Perez, Tania Perez Caruso (Matthew), Ani Yahaira Perez, Yanely Perez-Chavez; grandchildren, Camila R. Montes, Jiovany J. Montes, Rafael S. Montes, and one on the way, Arabella V. Caruso, Archie E. Caruso, Analia M. Caruso, Arlo M. Caruso; siblings, Ofelia Castillo, Celia Gamez, Maria Jesus Perez, Alberto Perez-Vazquez, Nicolas Perez-Vazquez, Mario Perez-Vazquez.

In addition to his mother and wife, Maria, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Maria Guadalupe Perez; and brother, Petronilo Perez-Vazquez.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Reynaldo’s life will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
