Smashing the monsters with a weighted ball💥 is a fun, engaging way to add heavy work into your child’s day!

Integrating a weighted ball adds more resistance and can create a more regulating impact on a child’s nervous system. This type of proprioceptive input supports regulation and body awareness, making it a great addition before mealtime to encourage better participation and a calmer, more organized body at the table.

Other great times to sprinkle in heavy work throughout the day:
✨ Before transitions (like leaving the house or starting homework)
✨ After school to decompress and reset
✨ Before seated activities that require focus
✨ During movement breaks to prevent overwhelm
✨ As part of a bedtime routine to promote calming

We had such a fun time at our Pediatric Sensory & Social Skills Group! 🌸🎶

Our friends greeted each other through music, building connection and confidence right from the start. We explored a touch-and-feel story, dove into sensory bins to discover new textures, and enjoyed hands-on play with flowers and spring-themed items 🌼

The group also got creative crafting kites, and worked hard through obstacle courses designed for heavy work and sensory regulation 💪✨

So proud of all the amazing participation, teamwork, and growth we saw today! 💛

If you’ve ever struggled to get a child to participate in hand-strengthening or sensory activities… it might not be the activity, it’s the approach 💡

This isn’t just peeling tape, it’s a challenge, a game, a “can you do it?” moment 🎯

Suddenly they’re:
✨ Building hand strength
✨ Using both hands together
✨ Tackling something just tricky enough

And that “just right” challenge? That’s where frustration tolerance and sensory skills grow without the power struggle 🙌
