🌟 June Teen Social Groups at EmpowerEd! 🌟

EmpowerEd is excited to offer two neurodivergent-friendly teen social events designed to help teens build connection, confidence, flexibility, and social skills in a fun, supportive environment.

💚 Teen Slime Lab
📅 Friday, June 12
⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM
Teens will enjoy a hands-on sensory social night with slime-making, fidget-friendly fun, dinner, themed treats, and guided social time with peers.

⚾ Backyard Ball Bash
📅 Saturday, June 27
⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM
This movement-based social skills night includes teamwork, guided coaching, flexible game choice, sportsmanship, and active fun through wiffle ball or kickball.

Each session is:
✨ Neurodivergent-friendly
✨ Led by a certified special education teacher
✨ Designed with guided social coaching
✨ Structured to support peer connection in a low-pressure setting
✨ Followed by detailed session notes that can be shared with teachers, CST teams, and providers

🍽️ Dinner and dessert are included.

🎨🍬🏈 EmpowerEd Teen Night: Sketch & Slurp Highlights! 🏈🍬🎨

Our teens had such a wonderful night growing, creating, and connecting together!

We kicked things off with Creative Candy Roll, a fun icebreaker that helped the group share interests, personalities, and plenty of laughs. Then, creativity took center stage through drawing challenges like “This Is NOT an Apple” and “Draw on Your Head.”

One of the best parts of the evening was watching friendships grow naturally. The teens talked, laughed, encouraged each other, and even bonded over a game of football outside.

We also had a meaningful moment when one teen felt comfortable sharing a mini “philosophy session” with the group. While not every peer fully understood his big-picture thinking, Mr. Glenn connected with it, and it was powerful to see him confidently share his thoughts in a safe, supportive space.

At EmpowerEd, our social nights are designed to build communication, confidence, flexibility, teamwork, and real peer connections in a neurodivergent-friendly environment.

We’re so proud of this group and the way they continue to show up, share, and grow together. 💙

June Social Skills Groups at EmpowerEd! 🎉

EmpowerEd Evenings are back this June with two fun, structured social skills groups for children ages 4–11!

These neurodivergent-friendly groups are designed to help children connect with peers, practice communication, build confidence, and strengthen flexible thinking through hands-on themed activities, games, dinner, and guided social coaching.

🧱 Build It Bash: Tower Challenge Night
Monday, June 8 | 5:00–7:00 PM

🧪 Slime Lab Social Skills Night
Saturday, June 20 | 5:00–7:00 PM

Each group includes structured activities, dinner, social coaching from a certified special education teacher, and detailed parent notes that can be shared with teachers, CST members, and other providers.

These June groups are designed for ages 4–11, but families with children outside of this age range are welcome to reach out. We are happy to create specialty groups for different ages based on interest!

This is such an important read for parents.

When a child is diagnosed with ADHD, some parents may begin to recognize similar patterns in themselves, too. This article from Child Mind Institute offers a helpful and compassionate look at what that can feel like and why support matters.

Parenting requires so much organization, patience, flexibility, and emotional regulation. For parents who may also struggle with attention, follow-through, overwhelm, or executive functioning, those daily demands can feel even harder.

At EmpowerEd, we believe support should extend to the whole family. When parents have more understanding, tools, and encouragement, children benefit too.

We’re so excited to offer two specialized 6-week small group programs this summer, designed to help your child build the skills they need to walk into the school year confident, capable, and ready to thrive.

Featuring Speech, OT, and 1:1 OT/PT options to support the whole child.

🎯 Speech & Language Program
Led by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, this group focuses on:
✔️ Answering WH questions
✔️ Following directions
✔️ Expressing thoughts and needs
✔️ Social communication and connection
✔️ Articulation (speaking clearly and confidently)
✔️ Self-advocacy and emotional expression

🧠 OT School Skills Program
Led by a licensed Occupational Therapist, this group supports:
✔️ Classroom readiness
✔️ Fine and gross motor skills
✔️ Self-regulation
✔️ Sensory processing and body awareness
✔️ Handwriting and use of classroom tools

✨ Details:
📅 Saturdays (July through August)
💲 $95 per session (60 minutes)

💡 Students can combine Speech and OT for a well-rounded school readiness experience.

Where Connection Begins 💙✨

There’s something really special about watching teens walk into a space unsure… and leave feeling more connected.

Today, we hosted both our Connection Circle (girls group) and Level Up Night (boys group), and the growth we saw in just a couple of hours was incredible.

In our girls group, conversations focused on what anxiety can look like from person to person, challenges in school, and personal interests. What began as a quieter space grew into meaningful sharing, understanding, and connection 💛

In our boys group, the night kicked off with a game of Pictionary, which quickly turned into inside jokes and lots of laughter 😂 The boys also spent time free drawing, creating a relaxed, low-pressure environment where connections formed naturally 🎨

This is what we believe at EmpowerEd:
When students feel safe, they show up.
When they feel understood, they connect.
And when they connect, they grow.

So proud of each teen who showed up today and allowed themselves to be part of something new 💙

This is why EmpowerEd exists.

This school year, I’ve watched students return to school after being out of placement, exit basic skills, move from self-contained classrooms into inclusion, and gain the confidence to learn alongside their peers.

These aren’t small wins. These are life changing shifts in access, independence, and opportunity.

This is the work we do at EmpowerEd.
We get to know each learner, build trust, and provide the kind of individualized support that actually moves students forward in the classroom.

And the students? They are doing the hard work every single day.

I am incredibly proud of each of them.

This is what’s possible when students are supported the right way.

🚗🏁 Race Night at EmpowerEd! 🏁🚗

So much fun, so much laughter, and so many meaningful moments packed into one evening 💙

Our racers had a blast with car-themed games, movement activities, and hands-on challenges that kept everyone engaged from start to finish. From cheering each other on to celebrating small wins, the energy in the room was incredible.

What makes EmpowerEd different is that every activity is intentionally designed to support social growth in a natural, low-pressure way. While the kids are having fun, they’re also building confidence, practicing communication, and learning how to connect with peers.

We’re so proud of the effort, teamwork, and joy we saw throughout the night. These moments matter and they add up.
