Deaf dogs are more common than most people realize, and many look and act no different than any other dog. Hearing loss can be present from birth or develop gradually with age, and certain breeds, including Dalmatians, Australian Shepherds, and some terriers, are more likely to be born at least partially deaf.

Watch for signs like not responding to their name, sleeping more deeply than usual, or startling easily. When approached with guided training and meaningful adjustments to care, you can create a safe environment where they can be happy, safe, and at peace.

Summer is gone, but parasite risks aren’t. Fleas, ticks, and other parasites can stay active well past the first cool snap. Here’s what to watch for this fall season:

It’s a sad reality, right? Our fur babies can feel pain, but can’t tell us what's hurting. That’s why we’re letting you know some common signals something might be wrong.

Early detection and care can make a BIG difference. If you notice your pet is showing these signs, give us a call or visit our clinic for an assessment and guidance.

🎉 Exciting News to Share with Our Tidewater Family! 🎉

Opening Spring 2027, we will be opening a larger hospital in Seaside Farms just one block away to better accommodate the needs of our growing practice! As an independently owned veterinary hospital, we have the freedom to create a space that truly reflects our vision and the way we believe veterinary care should feel.

We are so excited to welcome you into our new boutique-style hospital, thoughtfully designed to feel warm, comfortable, and more like home rather than a traditional clinic from the moment you walk through the doors. 🐾🧡

Our new space will more than double our current footprint, giving us the room to continue growing while providing the highest standard of care to the pets of this wonderful community.

This journey has been a year in the making, and today officially marked a very special milestone — we closed on our new Tidewater Veterinary Home! 🏡✨

I truly couldn’t have done this without the incredible support of our Tidewater Family- those amazing patients and their families, my dedicated staff, my own family, all at Provide, my realtor (Alfonso Motagalvan Realtor) and my dear friends!! You have all played such an important part in making this dream a reality.

I can’t wait to take you along on this journey and, most of all, I can’t wait for you to see our new home! 🐶🐱🧡

Here’s to an exciting new chapter for Tidewater Veterinary! 🐾✨

As we look toward the future, we will always be inspired by and committed to honoring Dr. Cara Daniel and the incredible legacy she built. Her dedication, compassion, and love for her patients and community will forever be a part of Tidewater Veterinary.

We’re so excited to share what’s ahead…

Coming Spring 2027, at the old site of Yamatos, 1993 Riviera Dr🎉🐾

With gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead,
Dr. Stacy E. Bostian

September is National Service Dog Month, a time to recognize the incredible dogs who help people navigate daily life with greater confidence, independence, and support.

Behind every service dog is a remarkable journey. From puppyhood through advanced training, these dogs spend months, and often years, learning specialized skills tailored to their future partner's needs. Whether guiding, alerting, retrieving, or assisting with daily tasks, service dogs are highly trained working animals dedicated to helping their handlers thrive.

This month, take a moment to learn more about the important roles service dogs play and how you can help them stay focused when you encounter them in public by visiting the link below.
