Congratulations Miguel!!
Miguel Rodriguez, APRN, First in Service Hospitalists, was recently presented two Heroes with Halos Awards by Rachel Gilbert, MSN, RN, VP/Chief Nursing Officer; Sarah Edwards, Executive Director/ Baxter Health Foundation; Shannah O'Dell, 3 West Director and other members of the 3 West staff.
A patient wrote:
"After a trip to the ER, I was sent to the 2nd floor. Test after test was done. Miguel came to me and said he wanted to catch the surgeon to show him something that gave him cause to be concerned. The surgeon came in on his day off and explained my situation and the need to operate right away.
I feel Miguel went above and beyond. Thank you!"
Jason Smith, PT, and Aaron Estes, PT, wanted to recognize Miguel Rodrigues, APRN, for his excellent follow-through on the care of an acute care patient:
"He diagnosed her with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and got her appropriate treatment in a short period of time – which allowed her to be discharged from the hospital at a faster rate. He then coordinated the care post-discharge to get her into the outpatient physical therapy clinic to treat her condition.
This was beneficial for the hospital, the outpatient PT clinic and the patient herself, who desperately needed treatment to minimize her risk for falls. Research indicates that 60% of patients who fall and break a hip have undiagnosed positional vertigo.
Miguel was an example of excellent provider care, completing the care loop for that patient while also working effectively across an interdisciplinary team in different healthcare settings."
