🦵✨ When “I AM PAIN-FREE” Isn’t Quite Cutting It… 😂

Have you tried daily affirmations for your knee pain?

“My knees are strong.”
“My knee is healing.”
“I can climb stairs without pain.”
“I LOVE squats.” 🧘‍♀️😂

And yet…your knee still hurts.

Maybe it’s time to give your affirmations a little backup. 😉

🌊 Enter StemWave.

StemWave is a non-invasive, focused electrohydraulic technology designed to stimulate your body’s natural healing response. It can be used to support recovery from a variety of musculoskeletal conditions—including knee pain.

Sometimes your body needs more than positive thinking.

It may need the right stimulus to help activate its own healing processes. 💚

So keep the affirmations if they make you feel good…

But if your knee is still saying “NOPE” every time you head down the stairs—

🌊 Maybe it’s time to try StemWave.

🌿 NATURE: YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM’S NATURAL RESET BUTTON 🌿

When was the last time you stepped outside and simply sat in nature?

Not scrolling.
Not answering emails.
Not multitasking.

Just…being there. 🌳

There’s a reason it can feel so calming.

Research consistently shows that spending time in natural environments is associated with lower perceived stress and measurable changes in physiological stress responses. Studies have found effects involving heart rate, blood pressure, cortisol, heart-rate variability, and other markers of stress regulation.

A 2026 overview of more than 100 systematic reviews found that nature-based interventions were associated with reductions in anxiety and heart rate and increases in reported relaxation—although researchers also noted limitations in the quality and consistency of the underlying studies.

And it doesn't necessarily have to be complicated.

🌳 Take a walk through the woods.
🌿 Sit under a tree.
🌊 Spend time near water.
🌱 Garden.
☀️ Eat your lunch outside.
👣 Take your shoes off and connect with the ground.

Even 20–30 minutes outside can be a simple way to give your nervous system a break from the constant stimulation of modern life.

Why might this happen?

Our nervous system responds to our environment. Natural settings tend to provide sensory input that is less demanding and more restorative than many of the environments we spend our days navigating.

Sometimes the nervous system doesn't need another supplement, another gadget, or another intervention.

Sometimes it needs:

🌿 Less stimulation.
🌿 More movement.
🌿 Fresh air.
🌿 Natural light.
🌿 A little quiet.
🌿 Time in nature.

So consider this your reminder from ITW:

Go outside. Breathe deeply. Look around. Let your nervous system experience a little nature. 💚

🌡️☀️ Tuesday Tips & Tricks: Cool Your Palms! 🧊

Is anyone else wondering when this summer heat is EVER going to let up?! 🥵☀️

Here’s a simple little trick to help your body cool down faster:

🧊 Hold something cool—but NOT icy—in your hands!

Why your hands?

The palms of your hands contain specialized blood vessels that are particularly important for heat exchange. Because your palms have very little hair, they are considered glabrous skin—and this type of skin contains blood vessels that can help transfer heat between your bloodstream and the environment.

When you cool your palms, you can help cool the blood flowing through those vessels—and that cooled blood then circulates throughout your body. 🌡️⬇️

So instead of only fanning your face or neck, try grabbing a cool water bottle, chilled can, or cool (not freezing!) object and holding it in your hands for a few minutes.

And your palms aren't the only place with this special type of skin!

✨ Glabrous skin is also found on:
🦶 The soles of your feet
🖐️ The palms of your hands
👃 Parts of your face

These areas are especially important in regulating heat because of their unique blood-vessel structure.

💡 One important tip: You don't need something ice-cold! Very cold temperatures can cause blood vessels near the skin to constrict, which can actually reduce blood flow to the area. Cool and comfortable is the goal.

So the next time you're outside melting like an ice cream cone… 🍦😂

Cool your palms and give your body a little help! 🧊💚

🧠🌬️ Could Cleaner Air Help Your Brain Work Better?

We often think about air quality in terms of our lungs—but what about our brain?

A fascinating new randomized crossover trial looked at whether reducing indoor particulate matter with a HEPA air purifier could affect cognitive performance. The study included 119 adults living near highways. Participants used either a true HEPA purifier or a sham purifier for one month, followed by a washout period and then the opposite intervention.

Here’s where it gets interesting… 👀

For participants 40 years and older, one month of HEPA filtration was associated with a 12% faster completion time on Part B of the Trail Making Test compared with sham filtration.

This portion of the test measures executive function and mental flexibility—the ability to switch between tasks and processes efficiently. Participants using HEPA filtration completed it in an average of 54 seconds vs. 61.4 seconds with sham filtration.

Even more interesting?

In a subset of homes with air monitoring, the HEPA filtration reduced indoor particulate matter by about 52% and ultrafine particles by about 32%.

Now, this does NOT mean that an air purifier will prevent dementia or that everyone will experience improved cognition. The overall difference across all participants was not statistically significant, and this was a secondary analysis of the original trial. More research is needed.

But it does reinforce an important functional-health concept:

🌿 Your environment is part of your health.

The air you breathe.
The food you eat.
The water you drink.
The quality of your sleep.
The amount of movement you get.
The stress your nervous system experiences.

These seemingly small pieces can add up to a much bigger picture.

At ITW, we believe in looking at the whole picture—because sometimes supporting better health starts with something as simple as asking:

“What are you breathing every day?” 🌬️💚

🌿 More Than Physical Therapy. More Than Functional Medicine. A Truly Integrative Approach to Healing. 🌿

At Integrative Therapy & Wellness, we believe your body is interconnected—and sometimes healing requires looking beyond the symptom to support the whole person.

That’s why we offer a variety of services and technologies that can be combined and individualized based on what your body needs. 💚

✨ FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
Our comprehensive Functional Medicine approach looks deeper than symptoms. We work to identify and address underlying contributors to chronic health concerns through detailed history, functional testing, nutrition, lifestyle, and individualized protocols.

🌿 NATURAL HEALTH MINUTE CLINIC
Need help with an acute concern—or guidance for a chronic issue—but aren’t ready for a comprehensive Functional Medicine plan? Our Minute Clinic provides a brief, focused visit centered around a natural approach to health concerns, with recommendations designed to meet you where you are.

👐 HOLISTIC PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical therapy that looks at the whole body—not just the painful area. We address movement, mobility, strength, fascia, nerves, joints, and the interconnected systems that influence how you move and feel.

💆‍♀️ BLENDED MANUAL THERAPY
Our hands-on approach combines lymphatic techniques, osteopathic fascial work, joint mobilization, and mobility techniques to help improve movement and support the body's natural ability to function and recover.

⚡ MICROCURRENT POINT STIMULATION (MPS)
Using microcurrent stimulation at specific acupuncture points, MPS can be used to support the management of joint and muscle pain, headaches, and other pain-related concerns—without traditional acupuncture needles.

🧠 VAGUS NERVE STIMULATION
The nervous system plays a major role in how we experience stress, pain, digestion, sleep, and recovery. Vagus nerve stimulation is used to support nervous system regulation and relaxation, and is typically paired with our infrared/PEMF mat for a more comprehensive calming experience.

🔥 FAR INFRARED + PEMF MAT
Four complementary modalities in one experience:

• Far Infrared Deep, Detoxifying Heat 🔥
• PEMF for Cellular Reset ⚡
• Grounding 🌎
• Near/Visible Red Light Therapy 🔴

A unique combination designed to support relaxation, circulation, cellular function, recovery, and overall wellness.

🌊 STEMWAVE
One of the most exciting technologies we offer! StemWave uses focused electrohydraulic energy to stimulate what we describe as the body's strongest healing response. It is a non-invasive approach used for a variety of musculoskeletal and pain-related concerns.

⚡ MICROCURRENT BALANCING THERAPY
This advanced technique uses very small currents of direct electricity to loop together multiple acupuncture points, creating a unique way to work with the body's energetic and nervous-system pathways.

💚 WHY ITW?

Because there isn't always one answer.

Sometimes you need movement.
Sometimes you need manual therapy.
Sometimes your nervous system needs regulation.
Sometimes your body needs a different stimulus.
And sometimes we need to look deeper at the underlying contributors to your health concerns.

Our goal is to bring these approaches together thoughtfully and individually—not to treat a diagnosis, but to support YOU.

🌿 Healing Powered by Science + Compassion.

🦵 STRONG & STEADY SATURDAYS: HEALTHY KNEES 7 🦵

Healthy knees start with more than just the knees!

Your ankles play an important role in how forces travel through your entire lower extremity. If the ankle isn’t strong enough or able to control movement, the knee may have to compensate.

That’s why building controlled strength at the ankle is an important part of supporting healthy knee mechanics. 💪

In today’s video, I’m demonstrating a simple exercise to help develop:

👣 Ankle strength
🎯 Controlled movement
⚖️ Balance & stability
🦵 Better lower-extremity control

The goal isn’t simply to make the ankle stronger—it’s to teach your body to control the forces moving through the foot, ankle, knee, and hip.

And remember: strong isn’t enough if you can’t control the strength you have!

Add exercises like this to your routine and build your foundation from the ground up. 🌿

Strong ankles → better control → healthier movement.

REMEMBERING & HONORING — SEPTEMBER 11

Today, we at ITW would like to pause to remember those who were lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the first responder who ran toward danger instead of away. We remember the fire frighters, police, emergency personnel, military workers and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage. We remember the families who lost loved ones and carry that loss to this day.

And we remember the compassion, unity and willingness to help one another in the days that followed which showed what can be accomplished when we stand together.

May we never forget the lives lost, the sacrifices made, or the courage displayed that day and in the years since.

🌿 “Sometimes doing less is the right thing…”

When it comes to your health, we often assume that more is better.

More supplements.
More treatments.
More exercise.
More restriction.
More testing.
More pushing through.

But sometimes, your body needs the opposite.

✨ Sometimes doing less means resting instead of pushing through exhaustion.

✨ Sometimes it means giving your body time to recover between workouts, treatments, or stressful seasons.

✨ Sometimes it means simplifying your supplement routine instead of adding another product every time you experience a symptom.

✨ Sometimes it means eating nourishing, simple foods instead of constantly chasing the “perfect” diet.

✨ Sometimes it means stepping away from the endless search for what’s wrong and giving your nervous system a chance to settle.

✨ Sometimes it means saying NO—to commitments, expectations, or anything that continually drains you.

And sometimes, doing less is actually doing something very important: creating space for your body to heal. 💚

Your body doesn't always need another intervention.

Sometimes it needs rest. Recovery. Nourishment. Safety. Simplicity. Time.

At Integrative Therapy & Wellness, we believe good healthcare isn't about doing everything—it's about understanding what your body needs right now.

🌿 Sometimes the most therapeutic thing you can do is… less.

🌶️ Tuesday Tips & Tricks: Jalapeño Hands! 🧈

Ever chopped jalapeños and then accidentally rubbed your eye, setting it ON FIRE? 🔥🥵

Here’s a simple kitchen trick you may want to try:

🧈 Rub a little butter onto your hands BEFORE washing them!

Why? The compound responsible for that burning sensation is capsaicin, and capsaicin is fat-soluble. Water alone doesn’t do a great job of removing it—and simply washing your hands with water and soap can leave irritating capsaicin behind.

A little fat can help dissolve and lift the capsaicin from your skin, making it easier to wash away.

👉 Try this:
1️⃣ Rub a small amount of butter over your hands, especially around your fingers and under your nails.
2️⃣ Rinse and wash thoroughly with soap and warm water.
3️⃣ Repeat if needed.

🧼 And remember: Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes, nose, or other sensitive areas!

💡 Bonus tip: Oils or other fats can also help loosen capsaicin, but you’ll still want to follow up with good soap-and-water washing to actually remove it from your skin.

🌶️ A little kitchen chemistry can go a long way toward saving your fingertips!
