This is beautiful. Congratulations to Miss Shauna for leaving a lasting imprint and legacy on our youth at Pathfinders of Muskegon!

✨ THE HANDS THAT PAVED THE WAY ✨
Every hand has a story. Every story leaves a legacy.

Behind every organization that makes a lasting difference are individuals who recognized a need, believed in a vision, and dedicated themselves to creating opportunities for others.

Today, we are excited to introduce The Hands That Paved the Way, a special storytelling series honoring the past and present staff, mentors, and leaders who have helped shape the legacy of Pathfinders of Muskegon. 💜🧡❤️💚

We begin our series by featuring Shauna Hunter, former Executive Director, whose reflection takes us back to one of her earliest encounters with the program.

💬 “The first time I visited the program as a director at the YMCA, the kids were different from the kids we typically worked with at the YMCA, and I knew then that there was a need.” — Shauna Hunter

Sometimes, meaningful change begins with simply recognizing that a need exists.

Shauna's reflection reminds us why organizations like Pathfinders matter. Every child deserves to be seen, supported, challenged, and given opportunities to discover their potential.

As we celebrate the people who have contributed to Pathfinders throughout the years, we also honor the experiences, relationships, and dedication that continue to shape our mission today.

🌟 The faces may change, but the commitment to our youth remains.

Join us as we share the stories of the incredible people whose hands helped pave the way for generations of young people across Muskegon.

Because every hand has a story, and every story leaves a legacy.

How YOU Birth is proud to extend a warm welcome to the new Executive Director of Pathfinders of Muskegon!! WELCOME!!

Pathfinders of Muskegon is proud to welcome Jessica Owens-Brown as our new Executive Director!

This moment represents an exciting new chapter for Pathfinders—and one that begins with gratitude.

As longtime Executive Director, Shauna Naretha Hunter, transitions from her leadership role; we honor the tremendous heart, commitment, relationships, and service she has invested in Pathfinders and the young people and families of our community. The foundation she helped build gives us something meaningful to carry forward.

Jessica brings an exceptional background in military leadership, education, nonprofit programming, youth development, family engagement, and community building. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and former U.S. Army Captain, Jessica has also served military-connected children through Kids Rank and led Muskegon Maritime Academy as School Leader. She is a Michigan-certified K–12 administrator, lifelong martial artist, world champion, wife, and mother of five.

But beyond her résumé, Jessica brings something essential to Pathfinders: a genuine belief in young people and what becomes possible when they are surrounded by opportunity, mentorship, support, and people who refuse to give up on them.

We are excited for Jessica to build upon the foundation established under Shauna's leadership while bringing her own vision, experience, and passion to Pathfinders.

Please join us in welcoming Jessica Brown to the Pathfinders family and celebrating Shauna Hunter for the legacy that helped bring us to this moment.

The path continues and we are excited about where it leads next.

Pathfinders of Muskegon
Empowering youth. Strengthening families. Building the path forward.
