Spending time around animals can be a simple but powerful way to support mental health. A visit to places like Mew Haven Cat Cafe offers more than just a break in the day; it creates space for calm, connection, and grounding in the present moment.

Being around animals has been shown to help reduce stress, ease feelings of anxiety, and improve mood. Sometimes it’s the small, non-clinical moments, like petting a cat, laughing with others in the community, or stepping outside of routine, that make the biggest difference.

Getting out into the community and using local resources like this reminds us that support doesn’t always have to look formal to be meaningful. Healing can happen in everyday spaces, through simple experiences that bring comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging.

Today we honor Juneteenth- a day of reflection, freedom, and resilience.

At Parents’ Foundation, we recognize the importance of acknowledging history while continuing to build a community rooted in dignity, respect, and equity for all.

Juneteenth reminds us of the ongoing journey toward true freedom and justice, and the importance of learning, listening, and growing together.

We stand in recognition, gratitude, and commitment to a more inclusive future.

June is Men’s Health Month- a reminder that health is whole, and mental health is health. 💙

This month encourages open conversations, support, and awareness around the unique challenges men may face, both physically and emotionally. Checking in, speaking up, and seeking help are all signs of strength.

Let’s continue to break stigma and support overall wellness for everyone in our community.

One of the many things we love about New Haven is that you can experience so much within just a few miles. 🌳🌊🏙️ One day you can be enjoying the beach, the next you can be relaxing in a beautiful local park surrounded by nature, and all while being just minutes from the heart of the city.

Residents enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking in the fresh air, scenic views, and peaceful surroundings. These moments remind us how fortunate we are to have access to so many opportunities for recreation, connection, and exploration right in our own community.

A day full of fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories!

Our residents recently enjoyed a trip to New York City, including a visit to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. From posing with their favorite celebrities to exploring the excitement of Times Square, the day was filled with new experiences, connection, and adventure.

Community outings like these provide opportunities to build friendships, gain confidence, and create meaningful memories while exploring all that the world has to offer. Thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible!

We are excited to welcome Joe Silvia as a new community partner with the Parents' Foundation for Transitional Living.

Joe brings years of experience in mental health education, advocacy, and community support through his work with treatment teams, caregivers, peer specialists, and individuals navigating schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. His passion for connection, education, and recovery-focused support aligns deeply with our mission and community values.

As part of this partnership, Joe will be hosting biweekly resident round tables and support groups in-house, creating additional opportunities for conversation, shared experiences, education, and peer connection within our community.

We are grateful to continue expanding meaningful partnerships that support growth, wellness, and recovery for those we serve.
