We’re using a tongue depressor and mirror to build visual + tactile awareness of correct tongue placement for those tricky /k/ sounds. Seeing and feeling where the tongue should be helps make accurate placement more consistent—and, of course, we’re making it fun along the way! 💙

Who knew fishing could build so many important skills? This favorite therapy activity helps children learn while having FUN!

✨ Speech & Language Goals

* 🐠 Identifying letters and colors
* 🗣️ Expanding vocabulary
* 👂 Following 1-2 step directions
* ❓ Answering WH-questions (What? Which? Where?)
* 💬 Requesting, commenting, and taking turns
* 🧠 Building attention, listening, and problem-solving skills

✨ Fine Motor Goals

* 🎣 Controlling the fishing pole with precision
* ✋ Strengthening hand and finger muscles
* 🤲 Improving bilateral coordination (using both hands together)
* 💪 Developing wrist stability and motor control
* 👀👋 Enhancing hand-eye coordination and visual-motor integration

Play-based therapy keeps children engaged while targeting the foundational skills they need for success in communication, learning, and everyday activities. 💙

✏️ Prepping for the school year starts with building the foundational skills needed for success in the classroom!

Handwriting development is more than just learning how to form letters. Before children can write efficiently, they need to develop the fine motor strength, coordination, visual-motor skills, and grasp patterns that support written expression.

In this activity, our OT team used a fun, multi-sensory approach to practice handwriting skills:
🌟Building hand strength by manipulating play dough
🌟Forming and tracing letters on a vertical surface to support visual attention and motor planning
🌟Using a Q-tip with a tripod grasp to “erase” letters, strengthening the same grasp patterns needed for pencil control

Activities like these help children develop the skills they need to feel confident and successful when they return to the classroom. Small hands are working hard to build big skills! ✨

Language is everywhere especially during holiday fun with friends and family! To prep for the weekend, our therapist created a Fourth of July scene using visuals of common items found at summertime celebrations, then separating them by pronouns! For example: “Show me HE has a popsicle! 🧨🇺🇸🤩
