William E. "Bill" Watson. age 77, of Rutledge, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at his home. A proud United States Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient, he will be remembered for his service to his country, his courage, and his dedication to his family.
William was inducted into the United States Army on March 19, 1968. He completed basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, followed by advanced infantry training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. On September 3, 1968, he deployed to the Republic of Vietnam, where he served as a rifleman with Company B, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 23rd Infantry Division, Americal Division. He was wounded in action on October 12, 1968, and later received the Purple Heart in recognition of his sacrifice. He was discharged from miliary service on July 4, 1970.
More than five decades later, Wiliam received the Combat Infantryman Badge in recognition of his service in combat. Through efforts by Grainger County Veterans Service Officer Eric Stephens, his miliary records were corrected, allowing him to receive this long-overdue honor. The badge was formally presented by U.S. Representative Tim Burchett, recognizing William’s courage and sacrifice. He worked as a Blaster Technician for Short Mountain Silica.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florine; his daughter, Robin A. Watson; grandchildren, Emilie (Clay) Newport, Brittney McGhee, and two grandchildren Emersyn and Miller, his brother James...

Arlie Ray Russell, age 54, of Morristown, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in Morristown, Tennessee.
Ray was born in Morristown, Tennessee on July 5, 1972. He worked 15 plus years at Koch’s Foods in Morristown, where he was recently promoted to security guard, and 10 plus years at Hickory Springs Factory in Morristown.
Ray will be remembered as a devoted Christian and a devoted Lady Vol’s Basketball fan. He cherished spending time with his special niece and nephew, Meleah and MJ; and his best friend, Vanessa.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda G. Russell of Jefferson City; father, Arlie Ray Russell Sr. of Morristown; sister, Angela M Russell of Jefferson City; nephew, Joey Lee; grandparents, Mary Lou White and Glenn White of Jefferson City; his life partner, Jeffery Looney; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his sister, Kristy Renne Russell of Jefferson City; brother-in-law, Melvin Taylor Sr of Jefferson City; special niece and nephew, Meleah M. Taylor and “MJ” Melvin A. Taylor Jr. of Jefferson City, Dearies Jones, Claudia Cardenas of Jefferson City; best friend , Vanessa Bautista of Jefferson City; and several cousins.
Ray will be remembered for the love he had for his family; his loyalty, his kindness, his humor and laughter, and contagious smile.

Melissa “Missy” Ann Ramsey Gann, age 61, of New Market and formerly of Grainger County, a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt and grandmother went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Her kindness, love, and nurturing spirit touched many lives. Missy was a loving mother to her four boys and a mother figure to many others. A person to turn to when life got hard, someone willing to listen when we needed to vent, someone who showed up and picked you up from the floor when you needed her the most. She was a former member of Oak Hills Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Preceded in death by her parents Lester Amos Ramsey and Joyce Annette Cole Ramsey; maternal grandparents, Estelle and Gladys Cole; paternal grandparents, Vate and Evelyn Ramsey; sisters, Angela Ramsey and Pam Ramsey Woody; father-in-law, Charles Wayne Gann. Ellis Ray Turley, age 76, of Rutledge, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at his home. He was a lifelong farmer and retired from Nyrstar Young Mines.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Turley; parents, Hubert and Bertha Harville Turley; sister, Morine Hodge; brothers, R.N., Amos, Andy, Norman, Don, and Avery Turley.
Ellis is survived by his sons, Ellis Ray Turley II, wife, Heather, and Michael Turley; grandchildren, Anna Grace Turley, Michael Turley II, Hannah Simpson, Madison Turley, Ellis Ray Turley III, and Raylan Turley; brother, Harold Turley; sisters, Mary Ann Ellison, Carolyn (Jack) Morgan, Florene (Bill) Watson; special friends, Julie (Danny) Pratt, Kim (Larry) Pratt, and Billy (Kay) Houser; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Wanda Ernestine “Teen” Vance, age 86, of New Market, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Teen worked for over 35 years for Magnavox and was a member of Faithful Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Ruth Sellers Vance; siblings, Wilma Breeden, Jess Vance, and Johnnie Vance. She will be forever missed by her nephews, Jimmy Breeden (Darlene) and David Breeden (Sheila); a host of great nieces and great nephews; special friend and cousin, Anna Shoupe.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM for a graveside service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with her great nephew, Justin Breeden officiating and music by Darlene Breeden. Nancy Daniels Wyrick, age 75, of Corryton, peacefully left this earth and went home to be with Jesus and her beloved husband of 52 years, William (Bill) Wyrick, on Friday, October 9, 2026. She was also greeted by her parents, Elmer and Ada Daniels, and brothers Terry and Gary Daniels.
Nancy built a beautiful life with William; having two boys, Michael and Richard (Pamela) Wyrick. Along the way she also lovingly adopted Jay Duncan, whom she loved like a son.
Nancy was grandmother to Kayla (Joey) Daniel, Tosha (Andrew) Hettinger, and Erin (Noah) Keebler. She became great grandmother to seven: Abbie, Emery, Charlee, and Jackson Daniel, Kinsley and Alric Hettinger, and Houston Keebler. Her grands were her biggest blessings, and they knew she'd always have candy hidden for them when they visited.
Left to treasure her memory are also her brothers, Larry Daniels and Clarence (Cathy) Daniels and sister-in-law, Barbara Daniels.
She was a woman who loved deeply, laughed freely, and made people feel like they belonged. She was loved by her work family at AAA and was often looked to for guidance and wisdom amongst her peers. She had a soft voice that was like a vocal hug when you needed it most.
Nancy was a beautiful combination of faith and fire, tenderness and humor, and unconditional love with just the right touch of mischief.

Luther Perry Bailey, age 58, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, October 9, 2026. Luther was a hard worker and a very caring man, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Thomas and Rosie Ann Hubbard Bailey; brothers, Al Bailey, Leon Bailey, and Junior Bailey; son, Victor Bailey. Luther will be greatly missed by his wife of 39 years, Martha Davison Bailey; sons, Michael and Christopher Bailey; siblings, Eric Bailey (Regina), Kathy McGhee, Joe Bailey (Felicia), Brenda Wilkerson (Paul), Ira Bailey, and David Bailey; grandchildren, Ruby Bailey, River Bailey, Elijah Bailey, Miranda Davison, Marty Davison, and Nicholas Cole; a host of nieces and nephews. Beverly Metcalfe Elmore, age 85, of Jefferson City went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Preceded in death by her husband, Laymon Elmore; mother, Bonnie Roach Metcalfe; sisters, Faye Whitt and Joann Hazelwood. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Judy Mantooth; grandchildren, Brandon Mantooth (Emily) and Marina Mantooth Emming (Joe); great-grandchildren, Kynlee Emming, Ayden Mantooth, and Hudson Mantooth; several nieces and nephews.
