Do you know why the “L” is at the beginning of LGBTQIA+? 🌈

It’s for a specific, historical reason: to honor the le****ns who cared for gay men during the HIV/AIDS crisis, when they were abandoned by all others. Le***an compassion is enduring: this Pride Month, we want to give the le****ns who continue the legacy of care-work for gay men their flowers.

You’ve heard lots about our LGBTQ+ IPs, but we also work with many LGBTQ+ surrogates—and one of the most special, underrepresented relationships in surrogacy is that between a q***r surrogate and the q***r couple they’re carrying for. We have two stories here from two Brownstone surrogates from two sides of the same community linked through the shared experience of what it’s like to build a family with a missing ingredient; collaborating to bring a child into this world through the sheer force of love and intention. Introducing….beautiful baby boy Nolan!! Watching GC Jessica and IPs “E” & “A” embark on this journey has been nothing short of magical, and the proof is in this little bundle of perfection. It feels like only yesterday that we were smiling at the photo of the three of them at the embryo transfer, and now we get to smile at a photo of the now-four of them. 🥹 Congratulations to this incredible team from all of us! 🩵✨

Last year, we sat down with Robyn—super-mom, volleyball coach, community pillar, and surrogate—after finding out that the embryo she was carrying for IPs “L” & “M” had split into twins. Anyone who knows Robyn knows that she leads with her profound compassion and that she can do *anything* she sets her mind to. If Robyn had a motto, it would be “I’ve got this.” And she really does: earlier this year, Robyn delivered beautiful, healthy twin boys for the IPs with whom she’s forged a lifelong friendship. Watch for a small glimpse into Robyn’s outlook on surrogacy! 🌸

Recently, the 1st baby ever born from gestational surrogacy turned 40! The epiphany that just one man—Jill’s father—had one day while shaving has become a legacy that has ushered so many children into the world who would otherwise not be here. A powerful reminder that what we are building on is not only hard-won, but still relatively new. We feel a deep responsibility to all who have come before us and all who will come after us to honor a lasting practice of intention, love, and devotion. 💘

The children of surrogates get to witness their parent undergo a marathon of compassion for another family, and experience every part of the process right alongside them. It is always amazing to witness the full-circle moment of a surrogate’s kids getting to meet the baby they watched their mom carry for 9 months. Those little smiles say it all!
