use a yoga strap or mobilization belt to help the humeral head to drop and glide in the shoulder socket. try it up against the wall, facing sideways or against the wall, to improve the range in your shoulder when reaching your arms overhead. give it a try and let us know how it goes!

say hello to our new operations manager, sarah maurer! we’re thrilled to welcome her back in both new + familiar capacities. read on to learn more about her ✨

Sarah blends her background as a professional dancer with her training in Pilates instruction to offer an enriching movement experience. She graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BFA in dance. After a series of dance related injuries that made it difficult for her to continue her dance training, Sarah discovered the rehabilitative power of Pilates at Kinected in New York City. Through a combination of Pilates and physical therapy she returned stronger and with a love for functional movement. Sarah’s classes are designed with a focus on stability, alignment, and balance, aiming to improve how you move through daily life with ease and resiliency. She also focuses on creating personalized 1:1 sessions that cater to individual needs, helping clients achieve their movement goals while cultivating a deeper awareness of their bodies. Since moving to Boston, she is excited to continue being a part of the kinected community as both the Operations Manager and a Teacher Trainer.

decompression is key for scoliosis care.
this stretch targets the concavities, helping to elongate + create space where the spine is most compressed.

opening space first allows for better alignment and more effective, balanced muscular recruitment after.

join on 5/29 for a practical workshop and learn how to support better alignment for all your clients!

✨Balancesit course:
The Balansit is a dynamic and active sitting device, engineered to provide effortless, natural posture in sitting, and can also be used as an assistive device in exercise. The Balansit can also be used kneeling, side lying and prone. The unique design of the device facilitates instability in 2 planes, encouraging the user to maintain control of the pelvis in these planes whilst sitting, kneeling, prone or side-lying. It can be used to perform Pilates mat exercises, and can be used on Pilates and exercise equipment to provide feedback to the user whilst moving. Finally its unique multi-planar instability allows it to be used in functional pelvic assessment.
*16 NPCP CEU’s for the whole course.
**bring your own Balancesit with you or purchase one here (please allow up to two weeks delivery prior to the course, a size guide is visible when you click on each size).

✨Oov Foundation course:
This course will explore how using a device like the Oov can facilitate overall improvement in functional movement. Assessments for the central axis - the axial spine, will be used to ascertain areas of interest for practitioners, and how to put clients/patients in the position for optimum change.

This course explains the inextricable link between the autonomic nervous system (ANS), respiratory mechanics, axial kinaesthetic awareness and inflammatory patterns in the body and brain. Students will also be given information for the structure, as well as the queuing techniques to facilitate a group Oov class.

*This Course is a new Level 1 Course that replaces the previous Oov Fundamentals Course. This new course now addresses the order of importance of working on movement and control with patients and clients.
*24 NPCP CEU’s for the whole course.
*Oovs will be available for purchase at kinected, please bring your own if possible

try this modification for any hip—but especially the arthritic hip—to increase space and mobility in the hip joint using traction + internal/external rotation. when working with someone who has arthritis in their hip, be sure to work within a range that is accessible to them so as to not irritate their hip.
