Dreams filled the air on Southern Blvd right outside El Nuevo San Juan Health Center! The Wheels of a Dream Truck, an interactive experience from Lincoln Center's production of Ragtime, came to Urban Health Plan, sharing music from the show and inviting community members to write down their dreams for the future.
Our founder, Dr. Richard “Doc” Izquierdo, was known to say: "I'm a salesman. I sell dreams." He built Urban Health Plan over 52 years ago on the belief that this community deserved a healthier, more equitable future, and that belief is woven into the very soul of Ragtime, too.
Neighbors, families, and community members of all ages came out and stepped on board. We were especially moved to see students from The Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School among them. Dr. Izquierdo's namesake school, his community, his dream all in one place on a perfect afternoon.
This is the heart of our Arts For Everybody initiative: a commitment to making the arts accessible to our patients, associates, and community, because the data is clear: participating in the arts and experiencing social connection positively impacts health. Days like this are proof!
Thank you, Lincoln Center, for bringing this experience to our neighborhood!
Enjoy the video and then tell us: what is your dream?
