Join us to celebrate 25 years of Pregnancy Justice and recognize Lauren Smith, an advocate and mother of three from South Carolina, who courageously fought her case, refusing to back down.
“For more than six years, the state of South Carolina disrupted my life, making me live with the possibility of facing 10 years in prison and losing my kids for using THC to treat my morning sickness. When I was arrested, I didn’t feel like a mother or someone who just had a happy baby. I felt like a criminal for being in my own body.” - Lauren Smith.
Finally, in early April of this year, South Carolina fully dismissed her case. This is why our work matters. We admire Lauren’s resilience and are grateful for her willingness to speak out about the injustices she faced, which will help advance pregnant people’s rights. Please join us in celebrating Lauren on September 30. Tickets and sponsorships are available at pjgala2026.funraise.org.
