🌟We hosted a Stroke Awareness Month celebration at the end of May with our stroke survivors! Pictured is participants working together to create artwork at the event!

🌟Our next Stroke Research Education Group meeting will feature Dr. Fabrizio Sergi, PhD with Data from Studies involving Robotics and Split Belt Acceleration via Treadmill. This will be Friday, September 11th 11am-12:15pm at UD’s STAR Campus!

🌟Take 3 Q&A with David Hannah! A stroke survivor, he was recently promoted to Associate Business Officer for UD’s Graduate College, where he oversees all financial operations for the Graduate College.

🌟Highlight on Dr. Jill Higginson! Dr. Higginson is a professor in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Delaware.

🌟Spotlight on Rebecca Nikonowicz and Grace Kellaher, two of our PhD graduates whose dissertations focused on stroke research!

Today, UDPT celebrates the legacy of a friend to the UD Physical Therapy Department and a beloved alumni of the University of Delaware, Vincent “Jim” DeLeo. Jim was an amazing Physical Therapist who previously taught in the DPT Program and volunteered with the University of Delaware in different capacities. During his life, he was also very involved with several other PT professional organizations and passed his love of the profession down to his daughter Ali who graduated in 2001 from our PT program. Jim's presence in the PT Community will be missed.

Summer Anatomy Review Sessions!

Fellowship Friday!

The 2025–2026 OMPT Fellows wrapped up this year’s lab intensives with the Upper Extremity Lab Weekend alongside Fellowship Coordinator Greg Seymour.

The weekend focused on advanced upper extremity manual therapy techniques while integrating clinical reasoning, complex case discussions, psychomotor skill refinement, and collaborative learning—all with plenty of laughter along the way. These skills help manage a variety of patient presentations and individual patient considerations.
