The iTrace is one of the most important tests we perform at Feinerman Vision because it helps determine which vision correction option is truly right for you.
In about a minute, the iTrace combines the work of five instruments into one scan. It maps your cornea, measures your eye’s focusing power, and analyzes how light travels through your eye to create a detailed picture of your vision, far beyond what a glasses prescription can show.
What makes the iTrace unique is that it separates the optical quality of your cornea from the quality of your natural lens. That distinction guides every recommendation I make. For patients considering LASIK, the scan confirms whether vision issues like glare, halos, and other higher-order aberrations are actually coming from the cornea. If they are, WaveLight® Plus laser correction may be the right solution. If the natural lens is the source, as it often is after age 45, LASIK won’t solve the problem, and we instead discuss lens-based procedures.
For patients considering refractive lens exchange or cataract surgery, the iTrace also measures how well the natural lens is functioning. Combined with our Pentacam, IOLMaster, and OCT scans, it helps me recommend the lens implant that’s best suited to your eyes, lifestyle, and goals.
I personally perform every consultation and review every scan myself.
