Feinerman Vision Center

Feinerman Vision Center Feinerman Vision specializes in LASIK, EVO ICL & cataract surgery. Gregg Feinerman, MD is a board-certified and fellowship-trained refractive eye surgeon.

Dr Feinerman was the first surgeon on the West Coast to perform All laser LASIK with the Ziemer laser and the first surgeon in OC to perform WaveLight Plus LASIK after FDA approval. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Southern California. Dr. Feinerman has extensive experience and a refined technique in performing some of the most advanced vision correction procedures and diagnosing & treating a wide range of eye conditions. He is one of the few qualified eye surgeons in the nation certified to perform a number of cutting-edge vision restoring procedures. Dr. Feinerman is also a noted author and educator who regularly presents his findings to eye surgeons around the world. He is involved in medical research and has written books on both cataract and LASIK eye surgery. His paper, entitled "Simultaneous Bilateral LASIK: Safety and Efficacy", was published in the August 1999 issue of Ophthalmology. Eye surgeons consider this paper a landmark study because it demonstrates that LASIK surgery can be performed safely on both eyes, on the same day.

The iTrace is one of the most important tests we perform at Feinerman Vision because it helps determine which vision correction option is truly right for you.

In about a minute, the iTrace combines the work of five instruments into one scan. It maps your cornea, measures your eye’s focusing power, and analyzes how light travels through your eye to create a detailed picture of your vision, far beyond what a glasses prescription can show.

What makes the iTrace unique is that it separates the optical quality of your cornea from the quality of your natural lens. That distinction guides every recommendation I make. For patients considering LASIK, the scan confirms whether vision issues like glare, halos, and other higher-order aberrations are actually coming from the cornea. If they are, WaveLight® Plus laser correction may be the right solution. If the natural lens is the source, as it often is after age 45, LASIK won’t solve the problem, and we instead discuss lens-based procedures.

For patients considering refractive lens exchange or cataract surgery, the iTrace also measures how well the natural lens is functioning. Combined with our Pentacam, IOLMaster, and OCT scans, it helps me recommend the lens implant that’s best suited to your eyes, lifestyle, and goals.

I personally perform every consultation and review every scan myself.

Have you been told, “You don’t have cataracts yet,” but your vision still isn’t what it used to be?

You may be experiencing Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome (DLS), the aging of your eye’s natural lens that begins in your 40s, long before a cataract is ever diagnosed.

Signs of DLS can include:
• Increased glare at night
• Difficulty driving after dark
• Needing brighter light to read
• Frequent changes in your glasses prescription
• Vision that never feels quite as sharp

Here’s what many people don’t realize: DLS and cataracts are not two different conditions. They are earlier and later chapters of the same process. A cataract is simply the point where the clouding crosses a clinical threshold.

That means waiting is a choice, not a requirement. For the right patient, replacing the aging lens now corrects today’s symptoms and permanently removes the lens that would have become a cataract.

Which lens goes in is where the real personalization happens. Dr. Gregg Feinerman evaluates every patient himself and weighs the same four tradeoffs with each one: range of vision, night-driving quality, reading-glass dependence, and long-term flexibility. There is no single lens he uses for everyone.

When it comes to LASIK, don’t just compare prices. Compare who’s behind the laser. Choosing vision correction means choosing the surgeon who will evaluate your eyes, perform your procedure, and stand behind your results for years to come.

At Feinerman Vision, Dr. Gregg Feinerman personally:
• Performs every consultation
• Performs every surgery, on the WaveLight® Plus platform with INNOVEYES SightMap™
• Calls each patient the evening of their procedure
• Sees every patient at their post-op visit
• Answers patient calls personally after surgery, and asks every patient to save his cell phone number so they can reach him directly

Exceptional outcomes start with exceptional continuity of care. If you’re considering LASIK, ask the questions that matter, not just the price.

Congratulations, Denise and David, pictured here with their daughter.

Denise had EVO ICL™. David had WaveLight® Plus LASIK yesterday. Both are now seeing 20/20.

Two patients, two different procedures, two different sets of eyes. At Feinerman Vision I personally evaluate every patient to determine which procedure is right for that individual. Sometimes the answer is that no procedure is the right choice, and I tell patients that too.

EVO ICL™ places a Collamer lens inside the eye and removes no corneal tissue, which makes it a strong option for higher prescriptions and thinner corneas. It is also reversible, which preserves the full range of lens options later in life if dysfunctional lens syndrome develops. WaveLight® Plus with INNOVEYES SightMap™ is our most advanced laser platform for eyes with stable prescriptions and healthy, adequately thick corneas.

The right answer depends on the eye in front of me, not on the procedure I happen to be promoting.

Thank you both for trusting me with your eyes.

Congratulations, Sofia.

Yesterday I performed WaveLight® Plus LASIK on a young woman whose mother I treated 26 years ago. Sofia spent years listening to her brothers talk about the 20/20 vision they had after I did their LASIK, and she was not shy about being jealous. Yesterday it was her turn. Today she is seeing 20/20 too.

Two generations, one family, and a lot of eyes I have been trusted with. Thank you to all the Goldensteins. Being the surgeon a family comes back to, and then sends their children to, is the part of this work that means the most to me.

WaveLight® Plus with INNOVEYES SightMap™ builds a ray-traced map of the entire visual pathway, not just the corneal surface, so the treatment is designed around that specific eye. It is the platform I chose to bring to Orange County first, and it is why results like Sofia’s are becoming the expectation rather than the exception.

Every consultation and every procedure at Feinerman Vision is performed by me personally. No rotating team, no hand-offs.

Correct your vision without touching your cornea. 👁️

The EVO ICL™ is a Collamer lens that sits quietly behind the iris. No tissue removed, no reshaping, and it’s reversible. Told a thin cornea or a high prescription ruled out laser? You may still be a candidate.

EVO ICL™ vs. LASIK: Which Vision Correction Option Is Right for You? 👁️ If you’re tired of glasses and contacts, you’ve probably heard of LASIK, but have you considered EVO ICL? While both procedures can deliver life-changing vision correction, the best choice depends on your eyes, lifestyle, and long-term goals.

LASIK
• Reshapes the cornea with a laser
• Fast recovery and excellent results for many patients
• A strong option for patients with healthy, adequately thick corneas and prescriptions within the treatment range

EVO ICL
• Corrects vision without removing corneal tissue
• Often a better option for patients with higher prescriptions or thin corneas
• Lower risk of post-procedure dry eye compared to LASIK
• Reversible, and preserves future vision correction options

One of the biggest advantages of EVO ICL? It’s an additive procedure, meaning a biocompatible lens is placed inside the eye while preserving your natural cornea. That can be especially valuable for patients who want to keep their future lens technology options open as they age.

At Feinerman Vision, Dr. Gregg Feinerman has worked with the implantable collamer lens for more than 20 years and believes the “best” procedure is the one that’s right for your eyes. Schedule your personalized consultation.

Too nearsighted for LASIK? You still have options. 👁️ Many patients are told their prescription is simply too high for LASIK, but that doesn’t mean glasses and contacts are your only options.

At Feinerman Vision, we often recommend EVO ICL for patients with moderate to high myopia, especially when LASIK would require removing too much corneal tissue or could compromise night vision quality. Unlike LASIK, EVO ICL works by placing a corrective lens inside the eye without reshaping the cornea, making it an excellent option for prescriptions that LASIK may not safely treat.

✔️ No corneal tissue removal
✔️ Excellent visual quality, especially at night
✔️ Effective for prescriptions up to -20.00 D
✔️ Reversible and designed for long-term flexibility

Every eye is different, which is why a thorough evaluation is the key to determining whether LASIK, EVO ICL, or another vision correction procedure is right for you.

Meet Sydney. She wore daily contacts from age 13 to 25. Twelve years of solution bottles, blurry mornings, and skipping the ocean because contacts and seawater don’t mix. 🏄🏼‍♀️🌊

Then she had WaveLight® Plus LASIK with Dr. Feinerman. She woke up later that day and could see perfectly. Now she surfs. Now she swims. Now she does everything. If contacts have you sitting out of your own life, it’s time for a consult.
