At EveryAge, our mission comes to life through the relationships we build, the care we provide, and the communities we create. Last week, we had the joy of celebrating the first anniversary of Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern, and it was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when compassionate people come together with a shared purpose.

The garden-themed celebration was filled with personal touches that reflected the creativity and dedication of the team. Staff members handcrafted unique floral centerpieces using items from home, participants created festive garden hats, and Chef Jordan prepared a delicious spread that delighted everyone in attendance.

One particularly meaningful feature was a six-foot memory tree created by Alex, Director of Activities. Participants were invited to write their favorite memories on leaves that were added to the tree, creating a living work of art that symbolized the growth of the center and the many lives touched during its first year.

While the decorations were beautiful, the most powerful moments came from the stories shared by participants and families.

Geneva, a participant living with MS, spoke emotionally about the friendships she has found and the staff who feel more like family than caregivers. Her brother, Mark, shared how much the program has meant to their family and the positive difference it has made in his sister's life.

One comment, in particular, captured the impact of Carolina SeniorCare and the PACE model:

"I know my sister is still here and doing well because this program is adding to her life."

Those words are a testament to the purpose behind our work every day.

Congratulations to the Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern team on an incredible first year of serving older adults and their families. Thank you for embodying EveryAge's mission through your teamwork, innovation, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping people live fuller, healthier lives.

πŸ’š Here's to continued growth, meaningful connections, and many more lives enriched in the years ahead.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Our COO, Aimee Reimann, and our senior director of hospitality, Glen Berkel, are culinary powerhouses, and they love cooking together. When their schedules permit, they make a point of visiting our different locations, preparing a meal, and catching up with staff and residents.

This week, they paid a visit to Carolina Senior Living, our affordable housing community in Lexington, NC, to treat folks to their take on a Lowcountry favorite: shrimp and grits. 🍀

Residents were delighted to have Glen and Aimee in-house and cooking tableside, and they kept talking about how delicious lunch was and how grateful they were for the meal. Several folks hadn't had the chance to try shrimp and grits before, so it was a double pleasure for them! πŸ’«

🎀 Earlier in the week, residents at Matthew's Place enjoyed a special presentation by Hayley Crowell, the family and consumer sciences agent for the NC State Extension in Stanly County.

πŸ”ͺ Hayley's program focused on preparing healthy, nutritious meals for one person – while also being attentive to reducing food waste. It was a perfect tutorial for our residents, who got hands-on experience during the demonstration.

πŸ• Taking advantage of pre-measured ingredients, they built their own fresh, healthy personal pizzas. Once they got a feel for that process, they observed Hayley making a delicious fruit smoothie. Each person was invited to sample the final product and discuss what fruits they'd use, whether to include chia seeds, etc.

πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ³ The class was both educational and interactive, and residents thoroughly enjoyed being involved and learning practical cooking tips to use at home. They're already asking when Hayley is coming back!

πŸ—½ At Matthew's Place, our affordable housing community in Albemarle, NC, residents enjoyed a Fourth of July cookout for the 250th celebration of American independence!

For the occasion, our dining room was decked out in classic red, white, and blue decorations, and the food was a feast of hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, pasta salad, brownies, and more! πŸ” 🌭

Naturally, there was lots of fellowship and laughter among attendees, and the get-together was a great way to strengthen community and build lasting memories! ⭐

Today, we remember the fight against tyranny that led our forebears to establish a new and free nation. We celebrate our hard-won independence and our shared belief "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, [and] that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

May you enjoy this holiday and the riches of summer with friends, family, and all that you love best. Happy birthday, America! πŸ—½

We recently had the honor of celebrating the 25th Anniversary of NOAH (New Bern Older Adult Housing) a milestone that reflects decades of compassion, service, and meaningful impact in the New Bern community.

The event brought together residents, team members, community leaders, and partners to reflect on NOAH’s legacy and look ahead to continued growth. We were grateful for remarks from Lee Syria, President & CEO of EveryAge, and Mayor Jeffrey Odham, who highlighted the vital role NOAH plays in supporting older adults in our community.

The program featured reflections on NOAH’s history, special recognitions, and inspiring contributions from former team members, along with musical performances by Gail Anderson. Each moment underscored the strong foundation of dignity, connection, and care that defines NOAH.

πŸ’š Today, our mission remains stronger than ever.

We are proud to continue serving seniors in the New Bern area through NOAH and Carolina SeniorCare – New Bern, building on a legacy of compassion and community partnership.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this journey over the past 25 years. We look forward to what’s ahead.

Here’s to the next chapter.

πŸ“£ Today, we celebrate and honor all the fathers who live in, work at, attend, or visit any of our EveryAge communities or locations. And we offer a special 'thank you' to anyone who has served as a father figure to the people in their lives. Your willingness to uplift, nurture, and care for others makes all the difference. πŸ’™

πŸŽ‰ Happy Juneteenth! Each year, June 19, or Juneteenth, recalls the date in 1865 when all enslaved African-Americans in the US were made aware of the Emancipation Proclamation and were officially released from their bonds – some two years after President Abraham Lincoln had initially signed the proclamation.

πŸ—½ Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 when President Biden signed it into law. Celebrations include picnics, rodeos, street fairs, cookouts, family reunions, park parties, historical reenactments, and blues festivals. 🧑
