If you mourn the shift, keep an eye out for spring again (March 14 time change, to be exact); otherwise, take heart in the fact that we'll all have the opportunity for an extra hour of sleep tonight! ⏰

We love supporting local causes and helping fight hunger in the community. Thank you to everyone who contributed canned goods or who made a monetary donation. Your efforts are making a difference! 💜

A HUGE congratulations to EveryAge and Abernethy Laurels for an incredible showing in our 11th Annual Parade of Cans Food Drive! 🎉

They brought in more than 3,500 pounds of food to help The Corner Table feed our neighbors across Catawba County!

🥉 3rd Place Overall — “Can”Pion Category

That is an incredible contribution, and we are so grateful for the time, energy, and generosity that went into collecting every single can! Because of supporters like EveryAge and Abernethy Laurels - Retirement Community in North Carolina, we can continue providing weekend food bags to children through our Backpack Program and helping make sure our neighbors have access to the food they need.

👢 The Willows, our affordable housing community in Burlington, NC, recently marked its 28th anniversary with a "Boots on the Ground" tribute to country-western music and line dancing!

Providing energy and entertainment at the event were Rosebud's Line Dancers from Burlington, NC. They wore red t-shirts for visibility, and our residents loved having them perform. In fact, many of our folks got up and danced along! 🎶

🍗 Adding to the western theme was a feast of chicken, barbecue, pork 'n beans, potato salad, and hush puppies. To top it off, we enjoyed big slabs of a decorated sheet cake! 🍰

Today, 25 years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 individuals who lost their lives in unimaginable attacks on America, and we honor the courage of the first responders, caregivers, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary acts of service, sacrifice, and compassion in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

At EveryAge, we are reminded that even in life's most difficult moments, hope, faith, and community endure. The events of September 11 revealed the strength of the human spirit and the importance of caring for one another, values that continue to guide our ministry and mission each day.

💪 Happy Labor Day! As we mark the unofficial end of summer, we also honor the work and contributions laborers have made to the development and achievements of the United States. Thanks to them, we have safer, healthier, and better balanced working conditions.

Today, we applaud the benefits and circumstances of our own jobs that these early workers fought for and made possible. While you enjoy a cookout, vacation, or couch time, celebrate the good work that you do as well! 🎉

At EveryAge, our mission comes to life through the relationships we build, the care we provide, and the communities we create. Last week, we had the joy of celebrating the first anniversary of Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern, and it was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when compassionate people come together with a shared purpose.

The garden-themed celebration was filled with personal touches that reflected the creativity and dedication of the team. Staff members handcrafted unique floral centerpieces using items from home, participants created festive garden hats, and Chef Jordan prepared a delicious spread that delighted everyone in attendance.

One particularly meaningful feature was a six-foot memory tree created by Alex, Director of Activities. Participants were invited to write their favorite memories on leaves that were added to the tree, creating a living work of art that symbolized the growth of the center and the many lives touched during its first year.

While the decorations were beautiful, the most powerful moments came from the stories shared by participants and families.

Geneva, a participant living with MS, spoke emotionally about the friendships she has found and the staff who feel more like family than caregivers. Her brother, Mark, shared how much the program has meant to their family and the positive difference it has made in his sister's life.

One comment, in particular, captured the impact of Carolina SeniorCare and the PACE model:

"I know my sister is still here and doing well because this program is adding to her life."

Those words are a testament to the purpose behind our work every day.

Congratulations to the Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern team on an incredible first year of serving older adults and their families. Thank you for embodying EveryAge's mission through your teamwork, innovation, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping people live fuller, healthier lives.

👩‍🍳 Our COO, Aimee Reimann, and our senior director of hospitality, Glen Berkel, are culinary powerhouses, and they love cooking together. When their schedules permit, they make a point of visiting our different locations, preparing a meal, and catching up with staff and residents.

This week, they paid a visit to Carolina Senior Living, our affordable housing community in Lexington, NC, to treat folks to their take on a Lowcountry favorite: shrimp and grits. 🍤

Residents were delighted to have Glen and Aimee in-house and cooking tableside, and they kept talking about how delicious lunch was and how grateful they were for the meal. Several folks hadn't had the chance to try shrimp and grits before, so it was a double pleasure for them! 💫
