JOIN US -- ANGEL LIGHT PROJECT -- BICKFORD โ€” SEPTEMBER 15

๐Ÿ’› Better senior care happens when good organizations work together. ๐Ÿ’›

As we prepare for our upcoming Angel Light Project Community Conversation at Bickford, we want to recognize the organizations helping us shine a brighter light on senior depression and emotional wellness throughout Hampton Roads.

We are proud to work alongside EVMS, Medical Care Advocacy Group, Enhabit Home Health, Wings Over Virginia Hospice, and Time of the Season Senior Placement as part of the Angel Light Project.

Each of us serves seniors in a different way, but we share something important: a belief that great senior care has to address the whole person.

And that starts with recognizing the impact of depression on seniors. It degrades their quality of life -- and shortens their longevity of life.

Physical health matters. Safety matters. But so do connection, dignity, purpose, emotional health, and joy.

Our goal is to allow seniors to reach their best life.

Together, we're working to make those conversations part of the way our community cares for older adults.

๐Ÿ’› Bringing a Little More Illumination to Senior Depression ๐Ÿ’›

Visiting Angels is proud to continue our Angel Light Project Community Discussions at Harmony at Harbour View

Thursday, September 17 from 6:00โ€“8:00pm.

Our Angel Light Community Conversation will focus on senior depression, emotional wellness, and something we believe deserves far more attention in senior care: helping older adults maintain connection, purpose, and joy.

Physical care and safety matterโ€”but they shouldn't be where senior care ends.

Together, we'll talk about recognizing changes in emotional health, understanding when a senior may need additional support, and the simple but powerful ways families, caregivers, and communities can help.

๐Ÿ’› Senior Depression - often unrecognized and undiagnosed -- but it has a significant impact on a senior's quality and longevity of life.

We should never forget 9/11 โ€” and we should make sure it never happens again.

But more than anything, never forget:

- How we all came together that day โ€” not only in New York and D.C., where the tragedy struck directly, but all across this great country.

- That we are still brothers and sisters, one nation, under God.

- That America is great because it is good. And the stories of good people helping others will always outnumber the stories of hate that caused that day.

That's how it should be.

So today: put aside your differences and love each other anyway.

Reject hate, of any kind.

Embrace the police and all first responders, and the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen who keep us safe. Thank them today.

Love your neighbor as yourself, and pray for peace โ€” spiritual and physical.

Especially today.

๐Ÿ’› The Angel Light Project is coming to Bickford! ๐Ÿ’›

Join us Tuesday, September 15 from 6:30โ€“8:30 PM for an Angel Light Project Community Conversation focused on an issue that too often goes unnoticed:

Senior depression.

Senior depression is often unrecognized, undiagnosed, and untreated.

Changes in health, independence, relationships, mobility, and social connection can all affect emotional well-beingโ€”but recognizing the signs can be the first step toward healing.

And healing leads to greater quality of life -- and longevity.

Weโ€™ll discuss what families and caregivers should watch for, the importance of connection and purpose, and how all of us can play a part in helping seniors recapture joy and meaning in their lives.

๐Ÿ’›One conversation can make a difference...
A community of organizations can make an even bigger one. ๐Ÿ’›

Our Angel Light Project Community Conversation on Senior Depression at Bickford of Suffolk on Tues, Sept 15th is part of a growing effort across South Hampton Roads to bring greater attention to senior depression, isolation, emotional wellness, connection, purpose, and joy.

And the Angel Light Project is bigger than any one company.

We're proud to be working alongside:
**EVMS**
**Medical Care Advocacy Group Nurse Advocates**
**Enhabit Home Health**

**Time of the Season Senior Placement**

Now we'd like to grow that circle.

If you're a business, healthcare organization, senior community, nonprofit, faith community, or professional group that serves older adults, we want you in the Angel Light Project.

You can help us educate families. Start conversations. Reach isolated seniors. Share resources. And remind people throughout South Hampton Roads that senior depression is real.

๐Ÿ’› Help us shine the light a little farther. Help us make a difference ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’› **Upcoming Angel Light Project Community Conversations Series across South Hampton Roads!**๐Ÿ’›

Senior depression is realโ€”but it is **not a normal part of aging**, and no senior should have to face it alone.

Through the "Angel Light Project: Illuminating the Impact of Senior Depression," Visiting Angels and our community partners are engaging in conversations about senior depression and emotional wellness directly with seniors, their families, friends, and those who support seniors.

Our upcoming **Angel Light Community Conversations** include:

๐Ÿ“ **Bickford of Harbour View** โ€” Tues, September 15 | 6:30โ€“8:30pm
๐Ÿ“ **Harmony at Harbourview** โ€” Thurs, September 17 | 6:00โ€“8:00pm
๐Ÿ“ **Acclaim East Beachโ€“ Memory Care** โ€” Tues, September 22 | 3:00โ€“5:00pm
๐Ÿ“ **John Knox Tower** โ€” Weds, September 23 | 3:30โ€“5:30pm
๐Ÿ“ **Royal Sails Apartments** โ€” Thurs, September 24 | 4:00โ€“6:00pm
๐Ÿ“ **PrimePlus** โ€” Thurs, October 22 | 12:00โ€“2:00pm

The Angel Light Project consists of proud community partners who share our commitment to improving the lives of seniors, including:

๐Ÿ’› EVMS at Old Dominion University
๐Ÿ’› Medical Care Advocacy Group
๐Ÿ’› Enhabit Home Health
๐Ÿ’› Wings Over Virginia Hospice
๐Ÿ’› Time of the Season Senior Placement

Together, we are raising awareness, encouraging conversations, and helping families recognize that emotional health, connection, purpose, and joy are essential parts of aging well.

Because caring for seniors should mean more than helping them stay safe.

It should mean helping them **live their best life.**

The Angel Light Project -- Illuminating the Impact of Senior Depression

More quick statistics on the health impact of senior depression.

Our goal is to reset the bar on senior care and redefine what one can expect from a professional home care company. One of the ways we achieve that is our focus on emotional care and depression, social care, and quality of life.

Weโ€™re proud to be celebrating at Coastal Virginia Magazineโ€™s Best Of 2026 reception!

The evening is even more special because our Executive Director, Dean Longo, was honored as the 2026 Hampton Roads Business Person of the Year.

Weโ€™re incredibly grateful for the trust our clients, families, and community continue to place in usโ€”and especially proud of the caregivers and staff whose compassion and dedication make this recognition possible.

An incredible honor, one unforgettable eveningโ€”and a wonderful reminder that everything we accomplish begins with great people, exceptional care, and a commitment to the community we are privileged to serve.

Thank you, Hampton Roads!
