Farm CrossFit: a new sport is born. 🚜💪
Seeing recent posts from everyone prepping for a CrossFit event got me feeling inspired, so I tried a little farm CrossFit of my own.
Here’s what I practiced:
🏋️ Wheelbarrow push: 80 pounds of mulch. Uphill. In the sand. Around (or straight through) the gopher mounds. The gophers did not consent to this event.
🥾 Terrain trek: Walked out to a tractor that had picked the absolute far edge of the property to gift a flat tire, across ground that’s been rearranged by gophers and pigs, to deliver the news that only one place in our area could confidently promise to fix the tire today. All the while keeping my eyes peeled for said pigs...and snakes. I was not prepared for an uphill, in the sand, all out sprint today. Lucky for me, neither were they! The final obstacle was the tall grass, also known as the tick and chigger social club. I made it through, and I’m fairly sure I came home with only a few members who decided Club Stephanie was tastier than Club Grass.
🛞 Tire flip: Just kidding. I climbed on the tractor and used the hydraulics to lift it high enough for the Mr. to remove the tire, then supervised the rest. Leadership is a skill, too.
Results: a very sandy workout, some questionable footwork, and a new respect for anyone who does this for a living.
