Primrose Funeral Service

Primrose Funeral Service Founded in 1931, Primrose has served Norman families with compassion for over 95 years. A place where tradition meets modern comfort.

Our new Venue offers a bright, flexible event space for celebrations of life, memorials, weddings, gatherings & more. In 1931, Odies Primrose and George Jansing established Jansing-Primrose Funeral Home in Norman, Oklahoma. In 1943, the business became Primrose Funeral Home, and relocated to North Porter Avenue in 1947. The second generation of the Primrose family ownership began with Ben Primrose

in 1973 and continued until his retirement in 1994. Both Ben and his father were licensed funeral directors, and Odies held a 50-year service pin with the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association. With a welcoming atmosphere designed to make families feel comfortable, our funeral home features a large and inviting foyer, visitation rooms furnished for comfort and reflection, and a warm chapel that can seat approximately 250 people. We pride ourselves on customizing each funeral as a celebration of the life lived. We believe that funeral services should reflect the lives of those being honored, and we strive to create meaningful tributes to those who have meant so much to family and friends.

Today we had the privilege of helping family and friends gather to honor the life of Sharon Donna Clark.

Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind examples.

Sharon will be remembered for her strength, her determination, her love for family, and her ability to find joy in life’s simple moments. Through challenges and triumphs alike, she lived with purpose and loved with her whole heart.

The personal touches throughout today’s gathering reflected the life she built and the relationships she cherished. Most importantly, they reflected the people who came together to celebrate her, support one another, and carry her stories forward.

Our thoughts remain with Gary, April and Mike, Garret and Tiffany, her extended family, and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love Sharon.

Every life has a story. Today, it was our honor to help tell hers.

Meaningful doesn't have to be elaborate.

Recently, we had the privilege of helping a family gather at Old Hickory Grove Cemetery, a place with deep roots in Oklahoma history. Established in 1875 during the days of Indian Territory, more than 30 years before Oklahoma became a state, it provided a peaceful setting for family and friends to come together in remembrance.

Beneath the shade of century old trees, loved ones shared memories, listened to Scripture, sang The Old Rugged Cross accompanied by a guitar, and reflected on a life well lived.

The details were simple, but they were personal. Favorite hobbies, cherished memories, and the presence of those who loved him most made the service uniquely his.

When families ask what matters most, our answer is simple: take time to gather. Take time to remember. Take time to acknowledge that a life was lived and that a death has occurred.

Services do not have to be elaborate to be meaningful. What families often remember most is being together, sharing stories, shedding tears, laughing at memories, and celebrating a life in a way that feels authentic.

One of the greatest gifts we can provide is handling the details so families can focus on what matters most, being present with one another.

Every life deserves to be remembered.

One of the hardest parts of grief is that life keeps moving around you.

The calls slow down.
The cards stop coming.
People go back to their routines.

But for the person grieving, the loss is still there.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is simply check in.

A quick text.
A phone call.
An invitation to coffee.
A simple “I’ve been thinking about you.”

You don’t have to have the right words. Most people don’t.

What people remember is who stayed present. ❤️

Work Hard. Work Fast. Love your family. Take care of the land. Never quit. Billy Dale Turner was a larger-than-life man in all ways. He was a larger-than-life guy with a handshake that you never forgot and strength that was boundless. He was a a larger-than-life presence for his family, the foundation of their lives and the example that they aspired to. He was a larger-than-life presence in his legacy of hard work and success. He lived his 83 years with focus and determination and today it is our honor to gather with the same focus and determination as we celebrate his life and his story, and mourn his death as he leaves this larger-than-life hole in the world of such a wide group of family and friends.

Today we had the privilege of honoring the life of Pamela Michelle Perry.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate a life filled with love, memories, accomplishments, and meaningful relationships. Her service reflected the unique story she leaves behind, from cherished keepsakes and personal tributes to shared memories and fellowship among those who loved her most.

Following the memorial service and reception, Pamela’s urn was placed in her permanent niche at Sunset Memorial Park, where her family gathered for a final moment of remembrance.

It is always an honor to help families create meaningful experiences that celebrate a life well lived and provide a place for healing, reflection, and connection.

We spend a lot of time talking about the first loss.

The death.

The service.

The funeral.

But many grieving people experience a second loss:

The moment everyone else stops talking about the person they loved.

Say their name.

Tell their stories.

Keep them present.

Honored to share that Primrose Funeral Service’s Brent Patterson will once again be speaking alongside Celebrant and educator Glenda Stansbury at the 108th Annual Cremation Association of North America Convention this August in Minneapolis.

As no strangers to speaking at funeral service conferences across the country, Brent and Glenda will present “What Does Gathering Look Like For You?”, a session focused on helping funeral professionals rethink how we talk about funerals, gatherings, and celebration through personalized experiences that truly connect with families.

At Primrose Funeral Service, we believe every life deserves to be remembered in a way that feels personal, healing, and meaningful. We are grateful for opportunities to continue learning, teaching, and serving families both here at home and throughout the profession.
