Did you know?

If you’re a member of the Oklahoma Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), your survivor death benefit may be taxable if it’s paid directly to your beneficiary.

With proper planning before death, you may be able to designate a licensed funeral home to receive the benefit, potentially helping your family avoid unnecessary tax liability while also helping cover funeral expenses.

Many Oklahoma educators and their families aren’t aware of this option.

Everyone meet Rebecca. She is the embalmer at Havenbrook. A little about Becca.

Rebecca Hart was born and raised in Moore, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science. With 24 years of experience in funeral service, Rebecca is a licensed Funeral Director, Professional Embalmer, and Barber.

Rebecca serves as the embalmer at Havenbrook Funeral Home, where she provides compassionate and dignified care to those entrusted to her. Embalming is not simply her profession; it is her passion. She takes great pride in the artistry, precision, and attention to detail required to restore a loved one’s natural appearance and provide families with a meaningful final memory.

In addition to her career in funeral service, Rebecca is currently attending the University of Oklahoma to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing and plans to pursue a master’s degree. Outside of her professional and academic life, she enjoys traveling, hiking, spending time outdoors, and visiting the ocean.

Peter brings over thirty years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant and Financial Controller, along with a decade of success as a small business owner. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Peter has built a career grounded in integrity, sound judgment, and practical financial leadership.

He has been happily married for forty-five years and is the proud father of three children and grandfather to nine grandchildren. Outside of his professional life, Peter enjoys fishing and spending time running his small farm, where he finds both relaxation and fulfillment.

Everyone meet Lyle, he is one of Havenbrooks ambassadors.

Lyle Nelson has been a valued member of the Havenbrook Funeral Home family since July 2012. With a lifetime dedicated to service, hard work, and family, Lyle brings compassion, reliability, and experience to every family he serves.

Lyle proudly served his country in the United States Army for seven years before beginning a successful 28-year career with Dayton Tire Company. He later spent five years working at the University of Oklahoma Postal Training Center, continuing his commitment to serving others through his work.

Family has always been at the center of Lyle’s life. He and his beloved wife have shared 54 years of marriage, together they have raised four children and are proud grandparents to eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Known for his friendly personality, strong work ethic, and caring nature, Lyle has become a familiar and comforting presence to the families who walk through Havenbrook’s doors. His dedication to helping others during difficult times reflects the same values of service and compassion that have guided him throughout his life.
