Are You Watering Your Muscles (Or Just Your Plants?)

With how scorching hot it has been the past few days, I wanted to send a gentle reminder to take extra good care of yourself today.

When the weather gets this intense, our bodies work overtime just to keep us cool. It’s so easy to forget that our muscles need that water, too! In fact, muscle tissues are made of about 75% to 80% water. When we sweat, those tissues can lose some of their bounce, causing them to feel a little tighter, achier, or more tired than usual.

If your shoulders or back are feeling extra heavy today, it might just be your body’s gentle way of asking for a drink.

Think of it like a favorite houseplant. When it gets too hot, it needs a little extra water to stand up tall and thrive again. Your muscles deserve that same kind of care.

💧 A Gentle Invitation

Take a deep breath, pause for a moment, and pour yourself a cool glass of water right now. Your body will thank you for the extra love.

The heat can be exhausting, so be sure to give yourself plenty of opportunities to cool down and rest. I’m grateful that my massage room has air conditioning, making it a cool, comfortable space during these hot days!

Whether you’re spending the day indoors or out, keep your water bottle close, rest when you can, and stay cool out there.

Just for today, I will not anger.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will be grateful.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living being.

These simple principles invite us to approach each day with peace, gratitude, integrity, and compassion. They remind us that we do not have to master a lifetime all at once. We only need to focus on today.

May was such a busy and exciting month filled with community events, networking opportunities, and connecting with so many wonderful people throughout Berkshire County. After spending so much time attending events around the county, I decided it was time to bring some of that energy home and begin hosting special gatherings right here in my own space.

I’m excited to invite you to Soulful Solstice, a fun, uplifting, and restorative healing event at Soulful Reconnection Therapeutic BodyWork!

The afternoon will feature wellness and spiritual healing experiences designed to promote relaxation, reflection, healing, and connection.

💜 Melissa Burdick – Owner of Soulful Reconnection Therapeutic BodyWork, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Usui Reiki Master Teacher with 17 years of experience. I will be offering 10-minute chair massage or Reiki sessions in exchange for donations beginning at $10.

🔮 Melody Mystical – Medium and tarot reader from Bennington, Vermont, will be offering tarot readings and messages from loved ones in honor of Father’s Day weekend. She will also be selling a beautiful selection of healing stones. Donations for readings begin at $5.

⭐ Leslie Klein – Writer and longtime astrologer from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, will be offering one-hour astrology consultations for $120. Advance appointments and prepayment are required to reserve a session. At this time, one appointment remains available at 2:00 PM.

I’m helping my friend get the word out about her plant stand in North Adams. 🍅

If you’re getting a jump on your garden this year, stop by and take a look. She currently has veggie starts, herbs, and some flowers available, with more being added every day.

4” pots are just $2 each during this pre-season sale. Prices will go up as plants are potted up and require more soil, larger pots, and additional care.

This is a self-serve stand, so please bring your own boxes or trays to help get your new plant babies home safely.

Payment can be left in the money box or sent via Venmo (qr on stand). If you’re looking for something specific, feel free to leave a note as well.
