We made trinket boxes. The project is called decoupage. This is where you take a napkin, tear it into pieces, then use Mod Podge to adhere the pieces to your project. It gives your project a 3d painted effect. It turns an ordinary brown box into something amazing. The napkins had butterflies, flowers, and of course, Snoopy. We worked on this project most of the afternoon because you had to paint the inside lid, and some painted the cover of the box. We let that dry before going on to the next step, which was tearing the napkin and gluing the pieces to the box. It took some time to do, but the results were worth it.

What a fun afternoon making flowers. After we snapped these pictures, they all added some butterflies, which gave them even more sparkle and shine. What a great job they did and a lot of laughs along the way. These are our crafty ladies. They love learning to put things together. This was the first time they had ever made flowers like this. They were so proud of how beautiful they came out. We are so proud to see how hard they work to make these art projects their own. Let's keep the fun coming!

Today's social hour was "Let's Try Something New!" We got a recipe for a virgin Moscow Mule. It is made with nonalcoholic Ginger Beer, fresh lime, fresh mint and simple syrup. The ladies liked the umbrella but were not crazy about the taste of the ginger beer. We also bought some banana cream cookies. The cookies were a hit! This was something new that none of us had had before. So we can all say, "Been there, done that, and got the T-shirt."

This month we are trying our hand at painting flowers with straws. Each artist used brushes and a straw to create these one-of-a-kind masterpieces. The talent we have in this community is amazing. The ladies get better and better with each project. Just look at what they created. We may create an art gallery for all the beautiful pieces of art we have here so we can display them appropriately. We're blown away with how beautiful each piece is and how each lady was able to create something so pretty. Keep those creative juices flowing.

Gina is a new visitor to the community. A beautician and skin care professional, she came to us to talk about skin care and to give some beauty tips. She showed the residents how to do facials. They got to try some exfoliating and cleansing products which made their skin glow. Each resident left this skin care event feeling beautiful! They can't wait for Gina to come back to talk some more about makeup and skin care.

Snoopy is alive and living well at Brookdale North Augusta. The Snoopy Club made keychains. Each Snoopy had its own personality. Each Snoopy member has a membership card and the story of Snoopy. We would like to welcome two new members to the Snoopy Club, Miss Ellen and Miss Judy. They both enjoyed this group activity and were welcomed to this cast of characters who love Snoopy. A great time was had by all!

Today, we learned about flower arrangements. We talked about placement, focal flowers and fillers. Each lady got to make their own arrangement. They enjoyed helping each other, sharing flowers and critiquing each other's arrangements. This group effort made for some beautiful work. What a fun afternoon!

One of our favorite visitors is Bob & Buddy. They stop by to see us once a month. We are a pet-friendly community, and our residents love dogs and can't get enough time with their pal Buddy. Buddy has made friends here. He looks forward to seeing his friends as much as they look forward to spending time with him. A high five from Buddy is always a special treat. That is followed by a "I need a belly rub." The residents love to give Buddy his shameless request for Belly rubs. He rolls himself on the floor with paws in the air. His request is never turned down. We look forward to seeing Bob & Buddy soon.
