Today, buying groceries or checking out at a store is as easy as tapping your smartphone or hovering a chip card over a quiet little screen. Beep! But remember what paying with a credit card used to sound like?
Out came the manual imprinter machine (often called the "Knuckle Buster"!). The cashier would lay your card down, put a piece of layered carbon paper over it, and aggressively slide that heavy handle back and forth. KA-CHUNK, KA-CHUNK! Then, you had to wait while they physically looked up your card number in a giant booklet of stolen/expired cards!
