Alcohol is it worth it? Know your risks!

One glass of wine is fine for the brain. Except that's not what the research says anymore. I want to be careful here because I'm not here to shame anyone's choices. But I do feel a responsibility to share what the evidence actually says, even when it's inconvenient.

The idea of a "safe" level of alcohol for brain health has been part of popular health messaging for a long time. But the data has been moving in one direction for years. The newest research suggests that alcohol, even in small or moderate amounts consumed over many years, is associated with an increased risk of dementia.

At this point, the research does not support a level of consumption that is clearly safe for long-term brain health. This doesn't mean one drink causes dementia. Risk isn't destiny. Context matters. But awareness matters too.

If you drink, the most useful thing you can do right now isn't guilt, it's noticing. Track how often you drink, how much, and what's driving it. That awareness alone often shifts behavior in ways that willpower alone can't. You get to make your own choices. I just want you to make them with accurate information.
