Paul Miller, 57, of Wheatfield, New York, passed away suddenly on September 8, 2026.

Paul was a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend. He married his wife, Diana Miller, in 1996, and together they shared 30 years of marriage.

Paul dedicated 26 years of his career to Albion Correctional Facility. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple things that brought him the most happiness—fishing, hunting, cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.

One of Paul’s greatest joys was being a grandfather to Trevor and Savannah. He loved watching their sporting events and being there to cheer them on. The time he spent with his grandchildren and the memories they made together will always hold a special place in the hearts of his family.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Diana Miller; his stepdaughter, Christine Lovewell and her husband, Thomas; his beloved grandchildren, Trevor and Savannah; his sister, Mary Kupiec and her husband, Paul; and his stepsiblings, Tina Davis, Laurie (Mike) Smith, Julie Bagleh, and Lisa (Dave) Bigelow-Roades.

He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth R. Miller; his stepfather, Don Bigelow; and his nephew, Brandon Kupiec.

Paul will be remembered for the life he shared with those who loved him, the many memories made around family, sports, fishing and hunting, and especially for the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who...

Michael Chermak (1953–2026), 73, of North Tonawanda, New York, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at Niagara Hospice House, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on January 15, 1953, on a naval base in Newfoundland, Canada, Mike was the son of Charles and Helen Chermak. He married his wife, Diane, in 1975. Throughout their 50 years together, Mike and Diane built a beautiful life centered around their love for one another and their family. Mike especially treasured the time he spent as “Pappy” to his five grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Carol Ragnar and Susan (Christopher) Majewski; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Ally, Jack, and Macie; and siblings, Charlotte (Daniel) Trevino, Joseph Chermak, and Gina Domiano. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Theresa Wheeler.

Mike took great pride in maintaining his property and enjoyed spending time on his back patio, watching birds and deer, gathering around bonfires, and trying his luck with scratch-off tickets. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. Above all, Mike’s family was the center of his life. His love, kindness, and presence will remain forever in the hearts and lives of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 18th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Spring Lake Winery in Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to support Niagara Hospice.

Peter Francis Trinkwalder, 83, of North Tonawanda, New York, entered into rest on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. Peter was born February 5, 1943, in North Tonawanda to Francis G. and Verna L. (Roggow) Trinkwalder. A graduate of SUNY Brockport, he served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later devoted 28 years to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, retiring as a Special Agent.
In retirement, Peter enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending winters in Fort Myers, Florida. He remained committed to his hometown through volunteer service, including his role as North Tonawanda City Historian. He was a member of the Historical Society of the Tonawanda's, the North Tonawanda History Museum, Stephen Sikora Post of the American Legion, and the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI.
Peter was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Judith Gerlach; and his brothers, Thomas Trinkwalder and Frank Trinkwalder II.
He is survived by his wife, Micki (Evanicki) Trinkwalder; his children, John (Serena) Trinkwalder, Amy (Christopher) Beney, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Trinkwalder, Kelly Molik (Trace Himmelback), and Alex (Ashley) Molik; and his grandchildren, Ashlyn and Jackson Beney; Bo, Jade, and Agnes Trinkwalder; and Edward Peace. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as Janet Trinkwalder.

William T. Fire Jr.
William T. Fire Jr., 72, of North Tonawanda, New York, passed away, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at home surrounded by his family and under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born August 3, 1954, in the Town of Tonawanda, New York, he was the son of William T. Fire Sr. and Rose Louise (Sorri) Fire. He retired after 33 years as a mechanic for Deerwood Golf Course with the North Tonawanda Recreation Department.
He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife, Deborah A. (Wachowicz) Fire; children Jason (Kimberly) Laska and Gregory (Amanda) Laska; sister Eloise “Ellie” ( Richard C.) Kloch Sr.; brother Christopher P. (Erica) Fire; grandchildren Jacob and Emily, also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Services
The family will receive friends on Wednesday (September 9, 2026) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home.
