Meet today's
FKA Amelia Méndez • Drag Queen

"Hola! My name is Amelia Exclusively aka Amelia Méndez and I'm from Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Representing my culture, my community and MYSELF everywhere I go and every room I walk in makes me a Warrior. Also, showing up to places and events that supports and uplift our people is what PRIDE is about.

Standing up for those who don't have a voice and speaking up about the things that we as a community go thru is the way to end the stigma. During these scary times we are living in, being VISIBLE is URGENT.

Meet today's Gálata

"Hello 👋 My name is Gaby, though many people know me as Gálata.

I am a non-binary, pansexual, neurospicy human, a mother to a beautiful 15-year-old, a burlesque performer, an educator, and a doctor in psychology dedicated to research and academia. I teach psychology at universities while also creating spaces beyond the classroom where people can reconnect with themselves. Through burlesque, movement, storytelling, and collective art-making, I facilitate workshops that invite people to reclaim their sensuality, autonomy, and joy.

For much of my life, I felt compelled to compartmentalize who I was. Academia expected one version of me. The stage welcomed another. Motherhood came with its own expectations. Queerness often meant navigating spaces where visibility could feel risky and authenticity could feel conditional. I spent years believing I had to choose which parts of myself were acceptable to reveal.

Over time, I realized that my greatest strength was never in fitting neatly into categories—it was in refusing them. My q***rness is not simply about who I love or how I identify. It is a way of moving through the world. It is an invitation to question binaries, challenge inherited scripts, and imagine new ways of relating to ourselves and each other. It has taught me that identity can be expansive, fluid, contradictory, and deeply creative.

As a q***r person, I understand what it means to search for belonging while resisting the pressure to become more palatable. That experience profoundly shapes both my artistic and academic work. Whether I am teaching psychological research or stepping onto a stage, I am interested in what happens when people feel safe enough to be fully seen. I believe that healing often begins where performance and vulnerability meet. By embracing the complexity of who we are, we become living invitations for others to reclaim their own.
